The war is over. We’ve lost haven’t we? As long as it was just Ubisoft, we had a chance. But as soon as Blizzard got involved we were f**ked.
Welcome to the shiny new world. The PC is going to be the new console. Easy to use, easy to update, a perfectly sanitized walled garden where no dirty impurities like mods will soil your carefully guided experience.

So after several days of peace and quite, you decided that you must stir this pot one more time?
Nonsense. The more publishers tighten their grip the fewer times we agree to shake hands.

There’s no gambling issue because what is sold/what you pay money for is always known. The way you get the items is random, but that doesn’t matter. Once you put them on the market and money changes hands it’s very clear what you’re getting and there’s no chance involved.
If you put an item up for sale, which a base assumption is that you expended effort to obtain, won’t a sales tax apply?

btw The exact wording of the poll in english:
For the first time in its history, Diablo 3 will allow for auctions in real money. What do you think of the new auction house?

Ok, now 11 days later, the number of participants has gone up to 27 888.
Here are the new numbers:
blue @ 2.3% - Great idea, that way I can save time and can easily get my ideal gear.
red @ 14.1% - Awesome! Now I can earn some money selling items.
green @ 24.5% - The auction house will destroy the game balance.
yellow @ 35.2% - I will not pay additional money for a game that I’ve already bought.
cyan @ 10.7% - I don’t care, I have zero intention of making use of the AH.
white @ 13.3% - Diablo 3 does not interest me.
I find it interesting that the percentages have remained pretty constant. With more than twice the participants and some time for tempers to have calmed down again, the results are almost the same.
Interesting how there is 6-7 times more people interested in sell stuff than people interested in buy it.
Not so. What about the 25-26% who voted “Yay, the auction house will destroy the game balance”

That obviously all depends on how important game balance is to you… Some people might revel in breaking the game balance and thus appreciate the AH, though I doubt most gamers see that as a plus!
Yeah good point, answers that are green don’t necessarily exclude the opinion of red. Green may just be the voter’s strongest feeling about the feature.

And I’d say that 10 times more people are willing to buy stuff than are willing to admit it in a forum or poll.
Looks to me like 35.2% of those people don’t have any idea how the in-game AH is supposed to work.

Free2play MMO’s can be way more expensive than Pay2Play MMO’s.
Looks to me there is a 35.2% of people who doesn’t have intentions of pay for stuff in game, apart from the initial retail box/dd.
They say that now but…
I mean no-one ever really goes into games with the intention to pay for stuff. It doesn’t stop F2P games from making an absolute shitload of money (I know this isn’t F2P, but a lot of the same principles apply).

But that doesn’t mean they can’t/won’t use the AH anyways. They can sell their items for real money and buy new items with the money they got from sales. They don’t have to spend a dime to use the real money auction house.

Does that poll have any accurate information whatsoever? I mean, isn’t that about as accurate as the hilarious screenshot of the Boycott MW2 usergroup on Steam?

Its a poll of people’s stated positions regarding the AH, what more are you expecting a poll to be?
