Apparently the guy set up a twitter account and posted a video of himself from his own POV committing the shooting.

I won’t watch it. Have heard it’s horrific.

On his twitter account, claims that the reporter made some racist remark about him.

Edited because this wasn’t about racism. It was about mental illness.

Apparently he executed them right on his own camera.

Former on-air reporter.

Holy fucking shit. I haven’t watched his videos, and I won’t, but fuck that guy.

Exactly. Hopefully Twitter and facebook are dumping those videos with a quickness.

Twitter finally suspended the account.

ABC News received a 23-page fax from someone who says he is Bryce Williams. We have turned it over to authorities.

“Bryce Williams” was the name on the Twitter account for the shooter.

Over the weekend, a possible and suspected terrorist tried to create a mass shooting on a French train with a semi-automatic assault rifle. Four or five passengers wrestled him to the ground, took his gun away, and subdued him preventing any major injury or loss of life. Two were American servicemen.

I have no idea how they managed to subdue a gunman without God-given guns or freedom-loving bullets. But, apparently it happened.

You can find the shooter’s video on YouTube. Apparently the cameraman filed a complaint with HR about the shooter and he was soon let go after that. The female reporter replaced him, as if she had anything to do with it, though I have also read that he claimed she perhaps said “racist” things about him.

That’s kind of what I assumed upon hearing the story. Didn’t sound like a random mass-shooting so much as a directed one, so a personal grudge seemed likely (cheating spouse, former employee, etc).

…And he’s apparently taken his own life.

What a cowardly asshole.

It jammed (temporarily) and 4-5 men were nearby willing to counterattack.

A targeted ambush shooting is more difficult to defend against. It could have been a knife or a pipebomb or whatever. If someone wants to kill you, it’s going to be a challenge regardless.

The video of the shooting has been removed from social medias as far as I know.

The video of the gunman walking up on the unsuspecting crew and pulling up his firearm is.

That was chilling.

The shooter has apparently killed himself after being confronted by the police. THe CNN link I posted upthread has updated information. I do want to apologize about not posting a warning about potentially disturbing content in the video from that link. I immediately stop/pause all videos that automatically play on websites I visit, so I didn’t even think about it.

I think it is sad that the first place I thought to look about discussion of this tragedy was the gun legislation thread.

Tweets posted to the account said that a report was filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against one of the victims, Alison Parker of WDBJ-TV, over “racist comments.” Other tweets said the other victim, Adam Ward, went to the station’s human resources office “after working with me one time.”

Guess what I’ll never be doing the rest of my life!

I’ll take working with an asshole with a victim complex, thanks.

My wife works at a place where they have an automatic 90-day probation period for new employees and talks frequently about the awkward challenge of carefully building a case to let people go, especially when they’re protected classes. Jesus, this is scary.

He should’ve bought his gun in America, where the blood of innocents creates un-jammable guns.

Poor people still have the shitty guns that jam.

Every year the world gets a little scarier. I wish we could go back to identity politics where the victims only lost their job and had to wear a scarlett letter the rest of their lives.

At least they could still hold their loved ones.

I don’t know. Just listened to Hardcore History about the Mongols. This is still way better. Which shows how shitty people can be.

That’s just anti-Mongolism at work. After all they loved horses - how could they be bad?
