Looking at that comics thread, I can see that superheroes are important and precious to Americans. From this thread I can see that guns are important to Americans too (hence arming your toddlers against bad guy toddlers).
So why don’t superheroes use more guns? Doesn’t it make them some kind of un-American commie to go around punching people? Why hasn’t the populace followed in the footsteps of their illustrated heroes and forsaken guns for fists, like the rest of the civilised world?

Looking at that comic-controversy thread, I can see that comics and their superheroes are pretty important to and considered precious by many Americans. From this thread I can see that guns are considered important to Americans too (hence arming your good guy toddlers against bad guy toddlers), because of some amendment to the unamendable constitution that allows you all to wield guns with impunity.
So how come superheroes don’t use guns? Doesn’t into make them some kind of un-American commie liberal to go around punching people? I know that the spoddy police forces and bad-guys in the comics often use guns, but why don’t the heroes use more guns? Wouldn’t superman be slightly moe effective with an Super-M60? Or conversely, why don’t the populace follow in the footsteps of their illustrated heroes and eschew guns for fists? Why can’t American align it’s superhero policy with it’s gun policy?
Deadpool and Punisher use guns.
There are others but I can’t recall them.

A lot of them have powers that make guns irrelevant. At least in theory.
The ones who do use guns tend to have more subdued powers or no powers at all.
Back in the day pretty much all of X-Force was packing heat of insane magnitude.

With regard to that Albuquerque road rage shooting, it appears that it only involved brown people. I’m sure the pro-gun WASPs and NRA will sweep this under the rug in no time.
Yeah, guess I could have googled it before throwing out my prejudices (try not to have them but man, its hard). So it appears to be a Hispanic guy. I wonder if his pistol was legally acquired?
But anyways that’s yesterday’s news. Todays news out of Albuquerque is of the officer that was shot at a Walgreens. Too bad these two incidents weren’t prevented by armed-samaritan intervention, obviously need more guns in the state.

I do think that NRA and pro-gun rights are mostly WASP males, is that prejudice? Curious as I don’t have the data either, again don’t mind being proven wrong.
Edit: not caring about demographics isn’t ideal either though, could be revealing.

Consider flipping it around, and making a claim that the shooter was a black guy, with equally zero evidence… Does that suddenly seem SUPER RACIST to you? Yeah, because it is.
Ok ok, proven foot in mouth. I would say that my perception of New Mexico is that it is largely white, but that’s yet another lame excuse. I apologize for assuming the shooter was a WASP and the asian remark as well. Maybe the mere idea of a 4-year old girl getting shot in a road rage incident just does something to my brain.
It stories like these that make me want to pack up my family and move back to the Netherlands. It would be hard, since my Dutch has completely atrophied, but damn if this country doesn’t scare the shit out of me sometimes.

Well to be fair, the country is REALLY big. New Mexico and say Minnesota have basically nothing in common really. In a nation of nearly 400 million the size of all of Europe something stupid is going to happen fairly often.
