The transformation makes sense. As the largest gun association in the nation, they were a natural spokesman for gun rights. The change was presumably a reaction to gun control efforts in DC.
This is how you get shop by the cops.

Has anyone explained her spunky theory to various law enforcement organizations?

This is an elected representative edging right up to the line on sedition, advocating armed resistance against law enforcement. Not some nutcase in a survivalist bunker. Not an anonymous internet toughguy. An actual elected representative.
Actually, I have no idea what the legal test is for sedition. Maybe she’s past it, maybe she’s nowhere nearby. But using it as a campaign tactic kinda knocks my socks off.
If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.
It’s only seditious conspiracy if she advocates force against the FBI or other Federal authority. Going up against the cops is a state offense.

That’s all well and good. What happens when some idiot takes her at face value and gets shot or shoots a cop?
I wouldn’t worry about her too much. In a few weeks we’ll get a story about how she was shot by her toddler.

This was her Christmas card:
So, you may well be right. That kid in the middle has a thousand-yard stare.
The republican governor of Georgia just vetoed a bill passed overwhelmingly by the GOP-majority in the state legislature that would have allowed for concealed-carry on Georgia college campuses.

What is your point here?
First, I say the guy that died is a hero. He tried to stop a dude that had just shot a woman. You think he isn’t a hero because he is not a cop? Or because he intervened and shouldn’t have? Or because he died?
Second, if the article is accurate the reason the good samaritan got killed was because he closed on the shooter and tried to get him to de-escalate instead of just shooting him. Ironically this is something we hear about cops not doing all the time, and they are generally not portrayed in a favorable light because of it. IE. Shooting perceived threats instead of pursuing other options.
Third, I think it is ignorant to assume a cop on the scene would have somehow solved this situation. If it was a cop who witnessed the initial shooting do you think he should have just let the dude go because, according to you, 90% of the time the shooter would turn himself in later? Cops, law enforcement, are not a thing to stop crimes in progress, because they are almost never there when a crime is in progress. They exist to clean up the mess.
Finally, how is this an indictment of concealed carry? If you were shot at, would you want a gun to defend yourself or not? Given the chance to defend yourself, would you choose to just get shot and curl up on the ground or would you return fire? If the female victim in this story had a gun, I think the outcome would be different and a good samaritan hero would not have died.
Yes, it’s clear how MAXIMUM GUNS improved the situation all around.
Ah, southerners are ill educated morons.
I forget this sometimes.

Firstly: Uh… approaching someone while grabbing your own gun is NEVER a de-escalating move. Secondly: Whether that guy would have shot a cop in the same situation is, of course, an entirely hypothetical debate. There, however, is the chance that he wouldn’t have. If a cop is pointing a gun at me, I expect him a) have the authority to do so and b) be trained for this particular situation. With some random stranger, you have no idea how experienced or trigger-happy they are.

It’s easy to remember, just catch up on the news once a week or so and they’ll remind you. But seriously, it’s Jeselnik, and about the tamest he’s ever been on anything. Also if the South stopped doing stupid shit non-stop the rest of the country wouldn’t think they were idiots. If anything they’ve been ramping up the stupid lately. Remember it’s only small government if it involves you, otherwise pass laws banning trannies from taking a piss and make it legal to do whatever to them, cause America.
As far as the drawing weapons on cops, there is a fine line where you can do that. Basically be a white guy that gets served a no-knock warrant. Don’t try it while being not white though, then you tend to go to prison for the rest of you life (white guys can do no time if they get lucky).
I think I get where she was going with that, but I don’t want to read crazy shit today, so I’ll just (safely) assume she’s probably loony.
I really don’t think an armed individual who has no training in law enforcement, and possibly no training in gun handling, is necessarily the better solution. You have cases of people unarmed fleeing shoplifters, responding inappropriately with a deadly weapon, not to mention all the rather tragic incidents involving toddlers, both as victims and shooters.
In this case this man got himself killed after the incident had already ended and the shooter in a non-fatal, potentially accidentally shooting, was leaving. This was a case where the man likely posed no further danger to the victim (who had also fled into a store). While I would grant that Antell was brave, I don’t think he died a hero. From what I understand from the article, he wasn’t saving any lives or de-escalating a situation. He put himself at risk stopping an armed gunman in a situation that I believe would have been better handled by law enforcement.

To be fair to the guy he didn’t know he wasn’t getting in his car to go kill more people. In his mind he was stopping a potential mass murderer, which very easily could have been the case. With hindsight we know it wasn’t but he had no real way of knowing.
That all said, calling the cops is definitely the better option. Or even calling said cops and shadowing the guy as best you can so you can make sure he isn’t going off to kill other people. But debating best approaches is a lot easier when you aren’t full of adrenaline and reacting to gun shots.

Anthony Jeselnik’s comedy is based entirely on being offensive to pretty much everyone.
It’s amusing if you’re able to accept that, and don’t mind when he inevitably insults some group that you are part of.

Well, the shooter didn’t actually kill the woman in the parking lot though, or even shoot her directly, right?
He shot the ground, and the ricochet hit her ankle or something? It seems like if he was some great danger, that he’d have actually killed her rather than accidentally shooting her and then driving away.
I think I can agree with everything you said. I think the point to made is that if Antell wasn’t armed I don’t think he would have confronted the shooter and he’d still be alive today.

Very true. That is a common failing of many people who carry: they think they’re heroes and need to play the role.
I mean, you might becomes a hero if that’s how things play out, but odds are you wont and you shouldn’t be out there looking to fulfill your fantasy. You could’ve becomes a police officer if that’s what you wanted to do with your life. You didn’t, so don’t get stupid.
As far as it being a ricochet, I have no idea. Odds are Antell didn’t either, so again, I can’t completely fault the guy. He heard shots someone was down with a gunshot wound, it’s not too damning for someone to take the logical step that someone is out there shooting people. Heat of the moment, adrenaline, etc, etc. Again, I think his biggest mistake was made before the shot was fired : he went in with a mindset that he was going to be a hero and it got him killed.
