Mark my words, within 10 days Hannity or Carlson will be blaming Democrats for pushing people to commit murder due to illegal immigration since we didn’t want to fund the wall or more extremist anti-immigration policies.

Well we managed to figure out a way of making torture legal, along with interning Japanese and assassinating foreign leaders or at least they were considered legal in the executive branch. Shutting down these site that host white supremacy on homeland security grounds seems to be a pretty minor stretch of the constitution. Ideally in a couple of years the Supreme Court will rule the act unconstitutional, and the appropriate wrists will be slapped.

Sadly, not something this administration will ever do. So it will have to be Rogue agents in the FBI or Homeland, or somebody like Jester.

Prior to the 2018 elections our state was in complete Republican control. They passed this:

Since 22 February 2017, New Hampshire is a constitutional carry state , requiring no license to open carry or concealed carry a firearm in public. … New Hampshire has no laws restricting the age at which a person may possess and carry firearms.

A 14 year old say can walk into a gun store, walk out with an AR-15, strap it to his back and start walking around town. Freedom! I cannot in anyway understand how someone could think this is not totally fucking insane.

(It should be noted I have not yet seen anyone walking around with any kind of gun.)

Yeah, which is why I think it might take some kind of domestic terror legislation. OTOH, it’s a little terrifying thinking what the current regime could do with such a law.

That’s the thing, most people do think that kind of thing is insane. Even members of the NRA.

It’s only the NRA leadership themselves, and the politicians they own, that think you can’t make any kind of restriction on gun ownership.

I think it’s insane. My friends who own guns think it’s insane. Even the majority of r/guns (a bunch of lunatics) think it’s insane.

There may be hope to banish this vermin ridden site. At least for a minute.

Also

“I don’t have a problem with white supremacists talking on 8chan,” Watkins told Splinter in April. “They have reasons for their beliefs. I don’t need to justify their reasons.”

Scumbag.

A little more information on the Ohio shooting.

The nine people killed in a mass shooting in a popular neighborhood in Dayton, Ohio, early Sunday include the shooter’s sister, Assistant Chief of Police Matt Carper said.

Carper said police were still trying to understand the motivation of the shooter and whether the victims were targeted.

It will never happen, of course, but I’d love to see that little shithead rotting in a Mexican prison.

Who? Trump?

That might start to feel like justice, although there can be no paying back of other people’s lives.

And:

Can we pause for moment to give a big thank you to cloudflare.

I also appreciate their honesty.

Unfortunately, we have seen this situation before and so we have a good sense of what will play out. Almost exactly two years ago we made the determination to kick another disgusting site off Cloudflare’s network: the Daily Stormer. That caused a brief interruption in the site’s operations but they quickly came back online using a Cloudflare competitor. That competitor at the time promoted as a feature the fact that they didn’t respond to legal process. Today, the Daily Stormer is still available and still disgusting. They have bragged that they have more readers than ever. They are no longer Cloudflare’s problem, but they remain the Internet’s problem.

I have little doubt we’ll see the same happen with 8chan. While removing 8chan from our network takes heat off of us, it does nothing to address why hateful sites fester online. It does nothing to address why mass shootings occur. It does nothing to address why portions of the population feel so disenchanted they turn to hate. In taking this action we’ve solved our own problem, but we haven’t solved the Internet’s.

Let’s name and shame whoever 8Chan goes to next.

Republican state legislator from Nebraska.

He’ll be decried as a RINO by the right, and castigated as another evil Republican by the left

That depends on his answer to what should be the obvious follow-up: What is he going to do about it?

Since he’s already given himself an out with the “Not all Republicans” line I’m skeptical it’s more than lip service. Happy to be proven wrong.

It’s actually part of a Twitter thread, he’s just not very good at Twitter and doesn’t realize he’s supposed to number them. Here’s another part of his thread where he straight out calls out Trump as a racist and a liar.

Yep. Mostly likely just a throwaway remark with no risk and therefore no harm attached.

So he calls out Trump but not the party of Trump? Not sure if that’s better or yet another it all started with Trump claim.
