Just executive action everything. Seems to be new MO for presidents.

Why is there no M.A.D.D. for gun violence? They were a powerful force in the 80s pushing for tougher drunk driving laws.

I guess the difference is that there was no group that was fighting for more drunk driving back in the 80s. These days you can have a group of moms holding pictures of their kids who were killed by gun violence and across the street are a bunch of people who are literally saying “fuck your kids, I want my guns.”

Hey, but they’re learning. A few hundred more “accidental” shootings and I’m sure soon enough a black man (or possibly even a Muslim) can safely carry a weapon in an open carry state.

Unlike the Wal-Mart back-to-school image, this is real.

Wal-Mart’s image was real, just not from this year, and it was a single employee scenario.

Well, it was a real, undoctored photo. It wasn’t a real issue. As in the sign was moved by an idiot and not store/company policy.

This is an actual thing done by the business.

Sure.

I just don’t want it to get mixed in with all the Photoshop, fake videos, fake meme stuff. It really happened too. There might be a few who think everything that is real and everything is not real is obvious… but that’s not always or even often true. It being true though doesn’t mean it was important at a specific time though.

This guy they just arrested in Ohio (for threatening a massacre) had 10,000 rounds of ammunition in his home. That’s probably more than 2000 kilograms of ammo. Somewhere there are records of those purchases. Seems like that would be the sort of thing you want to red flag.

Well, he lived with his father, so, ya know … only 5000 rounds each. /s

5 bullets weigh a kilogram?

I question the math on your weight calculation. A maximum, perhaps, but there is a large difference between a max grain 12 gauge slug and a .22 rifle round. A 12 gague 3” magnum? That may come close to the ,44lb mark. The .22 by contrast probably weighs on the order of 20 grams, so we’re only talking 4-500 pounds.

No, that’s obviously wrong.

You should. It’s way overstated. I checked the weight on NATO 5.56mm and confused grains for grams. I kept asking myself how can it be that heavy but hey that’s what it said!

So, more like 120 kilos. A reasonable number of rounds!

I just saw that kid playing in the LL World Series friday nite

Pro shooters would burn through that in a couple months of practice!

Credit for at least getting a reasonable order of magnitude. We used to laugh at the breathless articles that mentioned an arsenal with over 500 rounds of ammo. That’s like a $20 value pack of .22, heh.

As if the El Paso Walmart shooting couldn’t get any more tragic:

6 cops shot now, and the situation is not under control. I don’t know exactly what is going on, but it sounds like a bad scene, with police trapped by heavily armed bad dudes.

Wow, sounds like something happening inside a house, possibly drug related since two narcotics officers are pinned down.

Same Twitter handle says that the suspect is live streaming it. We’ll see about that.
