Except when the time comes, we’ll still hit the big R in the voting booth, so whatever.
Of course he did, because he’s a cowardly, useless piece of shit. Newsflash, I realize.
Really, he’s saving Dems from themselves. The background check bill would do almost nothing to stop mass shootings or change the basic state of our awash-in-guns society, and if he forced the Republicans to pass it the Dems would lose all the momentum behind doing something real about guns.

Having background checks on all gun transactions might actually help stop some mass shootings. It was never going to stop all of them.
In theory it could, but I can’t think of a recent mass shooting where the shooter either didn’t pass a background check or would not have passed one or where the check was relevant. The Sandy Hook shooter might have been stopped by a background check, but he didn’t need one because he used his mother’s assault rifle.
They need to ban military hardware. No assault weapons, no large-capacity magazines.

I think it was the Cruz shooting. There were a couple of recent ones, but there were so many it’s hard to keep track. There are a lot of ways to get guns and ammo, but at least on the legal front there seems to be holes that allow people that would likely not be allowed to get them in that way if we shut the holes and performed them on all transactions.
Cruz probably should have been stopped by a background check, but in fact he had a background check and passed it. He bought the gun normally, through a licensed gun dealer required to perform background checks. He didn’t use a background check loophole process, e.g. buying the gun privately or at a gun show.
Edit: It’s probably overstating it to say that universal background checks won’t help, but Dems should be after a lot more here. They are setting the bar too low.

Well there are, not say loopholes so much as lapses in there too. He was legally able to obtain one type of gun but had to be 21 or older to get say handgun but younger he could get the semi-automatic. He was also involved with a mental clinic but not committed.
I am not naive. He could’ve just picked up some of these things from a friend. It’s not that difficult to get a gun in this country legally or otherwise, but if we expanded background checks, not only who gets them but what they’re looking for, it could help in some cases. Granted, that does not change anything about how many guns are out there already and how easy it is still to get them.

And now Trump has said that universal background checks are off the table.
Because that’s what the NRA told him to do.
sometimes it takes a good toddler with a gun

This is the world we live in now. It’s no joke. They can’t treat it like it means nothing, probably never should’ve.

Kid or not, joke or not, something is seriously wrong with you if you’re posting threats of mass murder online. That’s not normal.

That mom seems to think it is. I have heard a lot of foul language, homophobic, racists and sexist and a long list of things but a direct threat like that, if that’s the new lol in gaming, yikes.

Shit parents are one of America’s biggest problems.
It’s insane how much harder law enforcement has to work in lieu of gun reform.
Also, I love the way police officers talk. Like when he says to the mom, “He has hands and feet. He could grab your gun and do something.”

Oh boy, Nazis saluting down the road yesterday, now mass murder being planned. This barely even makes the news of course because they prevented it from happening.

How do you shove someone to the ground and then run at them?
