I asked a friend who does covers to do that one for me. Since it’s my only self-pubbed story I don’t have a routine for it.
My story “The Ill-Fitting Wings” was published today on the Sci-FiShorts site. I love the art that goes with it.
Just read it. Great story!
Thanks!
Meanwhile, pleased to have not just one but two of my short stories, “Ma Belle Pieuvre” and “Reflex,” included in the just-published anthology “The Book of Drabbles” from Shacklebound Books. Each of the more than 60+ stories from writers around the world is just 100 words!
Nice work, Tylertoo!
New story “Sweeter Than Honey” is up at Sweeter Than Honey - by palisatrium - Short Story – a romantic Victorian-era fantasy. Just want to point out the market because they aren’t listed as paying all that much on the Submission Grinder due to the variable component of the fee which is largely based on their subscription income. They also offered fast turnaround and quick payment, though their acceptance rate is low due to only publishing one story a month.
But they wound up paying $500 for a 5,000 word story, which is very good for short fiction markets even though you’d starve if your only income was $0.10 a word.
Very nice, congrats!
Are there submission guidelines for that site posted anywhere?
EDIT: Found it! Rules, Payout, and Frequently Asked Questions
I recently received a payment for two pieces of flash fiction this year at SciFiShorts. A whopping $10! Still, that is my first ever paid fiction, other than sales of my self-published novel. So I’ll enjoy it!
Grats on the flash sales! In this market any sale is a good one. The story I published before this last one sold for $0.01/word…
My second book of the year is out, and I’m already hard at work on the next one. My last cover was just okay. This one I like!
Congrats!
My 100-word story “Conductor” was published yesterday on Friday Flash Fiction. Take 30 seconds to read it!
Now I’m wondering if I spelled ‘tatooed’ wrong. I’ve seen it both that way and ‘tattoed.’ Oh, well, there goes that Pulitzer.
Tattoed is 100% wrong, anyway :)
Tatooed vs tattooed is more debatable, but I will go with the double t. Congratulations on the publication!
Yup, that’s what I meant. And thanks!
I rode a commute train to and from Seattle for many years. This nicely captures the vibe in 100 words. I never pulled the emergency brake, but the thought may have been there from time to time.
That was neat, I liked it.
This made me laugh. Thanks for reading.
Another drabble published – this one in the beautiful new issue of the literary ezine The Dribble Drabble Review. My piece, “Possibilities are Endless,” is on page 46.
Nice!
My Drabble (100 word story) “Eulogy” was published last week on the site Friday Flash Fiction. They don’t sent notices of acceptance, so I only just noticed!
That’s a great little story! And feels true to life (I remember jamming my toe so bad it turned black while staying up all night writing a eulogy and transcribing it to an index card, and having to squeeze my slightly swollen foot into a too small shoe and grin and bear it the whole service).
