That was more general advice than specifically for you, Lizard_King - I think if the m&k controls actually give you trouble then moving to a 360 controller makes perfect sense. But I’d hate for people to start there when properly functional m&k controls are, imho, superior in most respects.
I loved the game overall. I remember hearing reviews where they said the stealth was pointless, I didn’t get that at all. Once I got a few skills I started to love it. I loved how the progression was pretty much “I can’t stealth for shit” to “I am a stealth god and no one can touch me muahahaha!” Story and characters are all great, for that price it’s definitely worth a shot.
Hey, that’s me in my second playthrough!
Definitely a great buy at $7.50.

If you don’t already own them, try getting the Printed Circuitry and Integrated Circuitry armor mods and using them together; their effects stack, so you can swap in both right before attempting a mini-game, and that will noticeably reduce it’s complexity, and increase the time you’re given to complete it.
Sounds good to me, actually. I’d much rather play an RPG than a shooter - I tended to use VATS in Fallout 3 whenever it made sense not just because it gave me time to think, but because it was more RPG-ish. I only backed out of it when the range penalties to accuracy became unreasonable.
Well, RPG combat in the sense that stats matter more or as much as physical aim, but while there are VATS like skills you’re still aiming in real time most of the time. If you choose pistols as your primary, though, it gradually upgrades to the point that you can basically freeze time and headshot every person in the room without stepping out of cover, and the melee knockout requires no melee skill for stealthy characters that can ambush the opponents.
Reminds me of Equilibrium. Someone really needs to capture that feel completely in a game.

$7.50? Finally hit my threshold for an ambitious but deeply flawed game. Neat.
I’m as happy to bash Obsidian as anyone (who isn’t Murbella) but I really didn’t think the game was “deeply flawed.” Somewhat unpolished is all.
The last Splinter Cell tried, I just couldn’t deal with the rest of the game. Either way, that’s not what AP feels like, more like rpg-ified bullet time with a stealth oriented judo chop instant KO that is very gratifying as a means of neutralizing enemies before they have a chance to act. Afterwards, in your head you can create a dramatic reconstruction that looks like gunkata and/or gymkata if necessary, but it’s going to require a little imagination.
I think the game is worth $7.50 for Stephen Heck alone.
Steven “Don’t call me Steve” Heck is Nolan North’s best role ever!
The guy is just ridiculous. AP needs a sequel if only to bring him back for more shenanigans.
The patch seemed to break my steam install. No idea if I just did it wrong, since it seemed to apply successfully, but the launcher crashed and kept crashing after that.

no one reads nowadays, the title of the patch
US Disc Version:
also the patch just fix some minor issue with installation.
I read it, but it didn’t sink in. Thanks.
Yeah, same here. If anyone discovers a fix, please post it.
idrisz just did. Ignore the patch if you are on steam, it doesn’t affect anything on your install and will only break it.
I cleaned and reinstalled and it does work a lot better than it did before. There’s no comparison in terms of graphical glitches and mouse control. I think I still prefer the analog sticks, though, and I I’ll be going back to that since FPS precision is not a big deal. The graphics actually look pretty good, now.
