Somehow managed to double post… not sure how.

I did this as a stealth / melee Mike and it was fairly frustrating until I figured this out:

When he starts chasing after you, you can run and he gets winded after a bit. Alternatively, if you can get the move right, you can pop a flashbang over your shoulder into his path. Either of these open him up for whatever form of damage you’d care to inflict - mine was popping the RAAAAGE or whatever power that turns Mike into a berserker and just blows through high melee resistance.

Remember that you can sprint to outrun him briefly.

He was the most annoying boss for me. Ended up winning by using Iron Will whenever he rushed followed by Focused Aim and just shooting him in the head while being knifed. Healed up when he ran away.

Chain Shot + Brilliance is the easiest way to deal with Brayko, if you have them. If you have stealth you can go invis and get to the left or right side of the room, where you’ll find infinitely respawning ammo if you need it (30 sec delay per respawn I think); if you get there without him seeing you and he’s still up on the stage, he’ll stay there forever while you heal/set traps/whatever. There are also some incendiary grenades on the stage with him (I don’t think they respawn).

So it seems like maybe my problem was my choice of first mission and alternate gun. I chose the Nasri mission first and took pistol/shotgun. I have gone pistol/assault rifle for everything else and had a lot better success. I do load up on first aid kits too though!

Untrained the Assault Rifle is still quite accurate.

And with subsonic rounds it gives you a stealthy way to remove guards at long range (though that ammo is frakking expensive if you buy it instead of find it).

Sorry for not reading through the whole thread to see if this has been answered:

Is there any way to make the mouse part of the hacking minigame not suck (that does not involve using a console controller)?

Whyever do developers think that a savepoint (checkpoint) system for saves is a good one? If I decide to read some emails, do some shopping, get Mike all ready to go and then save and quit, it’d be nice to come back to the game in the same state. Instead, it resumes from a point before all that so I have to reread emails, reply, read intel, kit myself out, etc, all over again. Is there an alternate save that I’m missing or is this just the way AP works?

Its just the way it works as far as I could tell.

Even for a console its a pretty crappy save system.

Yeah there isn’t a checkpoint after you do all that. What I usually did was either quit before doing all that stuff, or doing all that stuff, starting the next mission, and then quit after the intro to it.

Since the game’s primary emphasis is the choices and consequences, it is the only game I’ve played where I thought checkpoints actually worked. I couldn’t say something, not like what happened and back up to me save half a minute ago from when I could tell something was about to happen.

Plus I did what Timsfker did.

Gah, okay, thanks for the save tips. Guess I’ll just have to take the break at the ends of missions only or after those intros into next ones, at least.

You can do that, well i least i did. But there was a dumb and unintuitive method.

It’s been a while but i think there is a manual save, but the trick is, when you load the game back up, do not choose to continue from last checkpoint but manually load last save or something. This only worked at safe houses.

If you select resume at the main menu it loads the last checkpoint not your last manual save. It took me a while to figure this out.

Ah, cool. I’ll have to check that out. I assumed that resuming my game meant resuming the latest save. Yes, dumb and unintuitive indeed.

After the Saudi series of missions, you can travel freely between cities, and it creates a new checkpoint each time you do. I use that if I want to do some post-mission shopping, but need to quit before jumping into the next mission. The only time you have to be careful about city-hopping is near the end of your time in a hub (Moscow in particular comes to mind), because traveling to a new city and returning can cause an optional mission to expire.

How the fuck are you supposed to beat Darcy?

Sniper rifle in the other tower is the easiest way

Two approaches I recommend assuming you have decent to perfect stealth or enough toughness to get across the field (the respawning guards are low priority.

The container just to the side of Darcy’s position has a space behind it. That’s what I make a beeline toward. Then I lob grenades or use x gun ability from that position, ideally with silenced rounds. The guards will leave you alone, Darcy can’t hit you in there except with minor leftover blast damage.

Slightly harder, but more sporting, is using your stealth time to get in the other tower. Then you shoot him either with the emplaced sniper rifle or your assault rifle. It can be pretty nerve racking, and I forget if it was within the maxed pistol’s 40m crit range.
