The only rough bit I’ve had is save games - you need to exit to the menu, THEN reload a save. Other than that, I’ve not hit any glitches.

I never ran into any either.
Since you voted for Mass Effect 2 as GotY, probably not.
For me it’s worth full price.
I’d put ME2 as a solid contender for GOTY and I thought Alpha Protocol was excellent.

It’s worth the 7.50 to diddle around with if you have nothing else going on and are looking for a distraction. But the enemy A.I. is braindead, the grfx and animations are from 1999, and it is buggy.

Yeah, same. I think ME2 is better but after playing AP I am baffled as to how it got almost a universal 7 on the 7-9 scale.
It’s an intricate Choose Your Own Adventure + lame cover shooter.

Pretty accurate description, making it worth full price.
Possibly! Obviously YMMV. I really liked Choose Your Own Adventures when I was a kid, so I definitely dug it for $7.50, but I also like video games.

Edward Packard was, in fact, the man. At least from my extremely youthful perspective at the time when computer games were expensive and arcane while choose your own adventures were free at the library.
Though the two diverge in that, in choose your pwn adventures, resorting to violence almost always resulted in getting your shit ruined. By contrast, violence is pretty much your go-to in AP. In fact, if you’d rather just shoot people than deal with them, that’s sometimes an option.
Actually Alpha Protocol never has to be a cover shooter, unlike Mass Effect 2 where it is forced as a main component to the game.

So did I and I still would recommend Alpha Protocol.
I really want to like this game but the herky-jerky mouse hitching is a serious detriment to my enjoyment.
Oh yes, Alpha Protocol is actually a faster, closer range TPS, without the need to use the stick-to-cover feature.
I tried the m/k for about five minutes until I got to the computer hacking minigame, then used my 360 controller - haven’t looked back. I’ve NEVER played a shooter with a 360 controller, and it actually works fairly well.
I picked this up last night as well and was having the same problem, but after a bit of a search, I found a solution that seemed to take care of most of it.
Open the APEngine.ini (should be under My Documents/Alpha Protocol/APGame/Config), find MaxSmoothedFrameRate and lower it to about 30.
Also, playing with a 360 controller fixed a lot of the weird control issues I was having.
I’m a couple missions into this now and really enjoying it. Totally worth the $7.50.

I think my only serious problem with the game is the setting/story, honestly. I’m just not into the whole Tom Clancy thing. I wish it were a little more sci-fi, or a little more James Bond, or even a little more Chuck. That’s just me, though, not the game’s fault.
Snagged this on the Steam sale, hoping it runs on my 6 year old PC. Looking forward to trying it after all the glowing praise here. :)
