The amount of counterfeit goods on Amazon is so bad I sometimes wonder if they outnumber legitimate goods of the same type. As far as games are concerned, selling pirated games is even worse than putting them up for free download because pirates and anyone who follows this crap see a way to make lots of money off other people’s work. So the problem is only going to get worse and may ensnare innocent uneducated people who might not realize it’s hacked goods.
Yeah, this is a problem. Unlike going to some janky third-party site like G2A where people kind of know they’re rolling the dice with their purchases, people expect Amazon’s offers to be legit all the time.
They’ve been struggling with this issue with physical goods as well, but of course, the difference is that with digital goods, it’s a lot easier to create the fake/pirated product.
Like I said elsewhere, it’s complete news to me that Amazon even lets third parties sell digital goods on their site and it seems like a bad idea.
