Price cuts on the new Ryzens at Newegg… $250 - 575 from the 7600X to 7950X
Think that’s new anyway…

I’m really tempted but the AM5 motherboard prices are still pretty insane.
I know, I hope they lower the price a bit on the next month. However, the equivalent cpu from Intel is 78€ more expensive, so the extra money the mobo costs is the money you save up in the cpu.

Are they really that much worse than the Intel z790 chipset?

Does someone other than me here have 5800X3D and Forza Horizon 5 (gamepass or steam) ?
Close but not quite the same. I’ve got a Ryzen 5900x home built with an NVidia 3080 and Horizon 5 (Microsoft Store). Works fine here apart from the occasional normal (for Forza games) crash to desktop.
Could you please test the integrated benchmark in 1080p, high, no AA as well as in 720p, high, DLSS ultra performance (so it will run in like 240p) and post the results here?
I would like to confirm if my framerate is within norm, because it is very far from the result Hardware Unboxed was getting (I get around 90fps less).
I ASSUME you mean with the RTX 3080 versus the integrated GPU & I’m not sure which parts of the results you want, but:
The first scenario yielded the following (FPS listed as avg / min / max)
CPU Simulation 294.1, 257.7, 327.6
CPU RENDER 198.4, 161.3, 223.3
GPU 96.4, 80.3, 115.7
Stutter Count 21
GPU Limited Percentage 99.9
Average Latency 56.4
Achieved FPS 60
The second scenario yielded the following (FPS listed as avg / min / max)
CPU Simulation 272.0, 246.2, 297.4
CPU RENDER 186.6, 153.6, 210.5
GPU 108.5, 88.9, 127.3
Stutter Count 0
GPU Limited Percentage 99.7
Average Latency 55.7
Achieved FPS 60
Hope that helps!
Having achieved 60fps, I guess you had vsync enabled? Or frame limiter.
Could you run it again with completely unlocked framerate? I am sorry for the bother :)
You’re right. I’d started from the reset-to-defaults option, which had vsync on for my configuration. Here they are again but with it off and unlocked:
The first scenario yielded the following (FPS listed as avg / min / max)
CPU Simulation 307.1, 266.2, 345.8
CPU RENDER 187.8, 165.3, 217.4
GPU 194.6, 167.5, 228.0
Stutter Count 4
GPU Limited Percentage 1.6
Average Latency 16.4
Achieved FPS 160
The second scenario yielded the following (FPS listed as avg / min / max)
CPU Simulation 304.9, 272.1, 341.4
CPU RENDER 194.7, 169.2, 227.8
GPU 217.5, 185.3, 252.0
Stutter Count 0
GPU Limited Percentage 0.1
Average Latency 15.4
Achieved FPS 166
Thank you! So I guess my result is in the norm.
I was curious about this, because I was watching Hardware Unboxed test and they got, with my CPU (5800X3D) 90fps more (271fps in 1080p High, while I get 187).
So I was wondering if my PC was somehow much slower than it should be in this game. But I guess they either tested some older version of FH5 that ran better, or they do not actually test the integrated benchmark, or Forza somehow magically loves AMD cards (they tested with Radeon 6950), or their numbers are just nonsense. Either way, I am glad my PC appears to be working fine.
Here is that HBU test btw:
Happy to help assuage any concern!
Hard to know why the difference exists because there are SO many variables… Could be in the system builds, video card driver, different test settings chosen, etc etc.

At high settings with no AA, my 5800X and 3070 Ti scored 171 FPS at 1080p. That’s lower than their 3600 and 6600 XT.
I think this is the reason. A custom gameplay loop probably works better for their testing process.
What is weird is they show snippet of the gameplay there that looks like the integrated benchmark. I just wish they would specify what exactly they test in each game and the exact settings (like they say “high” but do not specify if TAA or something else is running)
I’d also be curious if you’re running Windows 11, and they’re running Windows 10…
I’m using Windows 11 22H2 FWIW.
I am on latest Windows 10
Don’t know if this goes here…
7800X3D, 7900X3D, 7950X3D announced for Feb. Illustrated with the same Jedi Survivor footage Nvidia used :)
