Yep. Black comedy/satire. It’s got some really violent bits, but it’s not remotely serious.
I just watched the movie, in part because this thread had intrigued me back when it appeared and it took me this long to get to actually seeing it.
I think the movie hit its target of ambiguity, but I think it works much better if he actually did do what he thought he did. For one thing, the movie sets up the whole “mistaken identity because they all look the same” thing far, far too well, and those bits have meaning if the killings were real that they don’t have if the killings were in his head. There are other bits, like the hooker’s reticence and need to go to the hospital, or his secretary’s reaction to seeing his doodles, that make more sense if what happened really did. For another, its satire of yuppies, of men, and the like is more powerful to me if their reaction to him killing them off is to bury it under the rug, or simply be unaware that it occurred.
Finally watched this. Meh. Man this board used to be weird.
