An Laoch Ri The Warrior King

A game about King Arthur that focuses on the shadowy historical figure of post Roman Britain rather than the mythic figure created in the later Middle Ages.

I have long been a fan of Jeff Lapkoff’s work. He produces games that usually have unique takes on the historical periods he covers. I don’t always agree with his takes, but I appreciate his reluctance to produce cookie cutter games that look like many other games.

For 14.95 I will take the plunge and report back.

O learned man who never learned to learn,
Save to deduce, by timid steps and small,
From towering smoke that fire can never burn
And from tall tales that men were never tall.
Say, have you thought what manner of man it is
Of who men say “He could strike giants down” ?
Or what strong memories over time’s abyss
Bore up the pomp of Camelot and the crown.
And why one banner all the background fills,
Beyond the pageants of so many spears,
And by what witchery in the western hills
A throne stands empty for a thousand years.
Who hold, unheeding this immense impact,
Immortal story for a mortal sin;
Lest human fable touch historic fact,
Chase myths like moths, and fight them with a pin.
Take comfort; rest–there needs not this ado.
You shall not be a myth, I promise you.

Never heard of this guy. Please make a thread about all his games and speak about them. Thank you.

I’ve got the game, but no time to play it till the weekend.

Linked below are all his current games. His web apps Valkyrie Crisis and Che 1967 are free.

Interesting. I have a couple Lapkoff games (Zulu Dawn and Defcon-2, I think) but never really got anywhere with them. Pretty rough. This looks cool, though, especially the hinted command and control innovations, so please do report back!
