I just ordered this from newegg.com:

CPU P4/2.8CGHz 800M 478P/512K HT RT (Qty=1,Price=269.00)
MB P4 INTEL 875P D875PBZLK RT (Qty=1,Price=154.00)

This IS good, right? I{ mean, I did my research, but I’m very paranoid.

To be put on this motherboard with the 2.8ghz chip:

Radeon 9800 pro 128 meg
Soundblaster Live
1 gig DDR 333

At last, THIS SHOULD LET ME RUN GAMES AT A GOOD FRAMERATE, RIGHT?

Side Story: My fiance and I made a deal that if she got the job she’s been interviewing for (3 freaking interviews) that I could order this processor and board. She gets a call yesterday around 9:30. at 9:31 she smiles and gives me a big “I GOT THE JOB” thumbs up. 9:30:01: I hit the mouse button to place the order. 9:35 : Fiance says “You’re a dick”

I smiled.

It’ll be dandy. Of course for the same money you could have snagged:

$67 bucks left over for a couple of games…

Performance should be a bit better in many applications, esp games.

Yeah, well the payback is that she gets a computer of her own out of it, I have everything needed to make a second PC. She’s all addicted to puzzle pirates right now, so you know, we all win!!!

And I’m sure I’ll be punished some other way.
