Yeah, I have that app on my PC.
It really is great. Apparently they’re adding the functionality to run any app on your phone from wthin it? But… only for certain Samsung phones? Hopefully they expand that someday.
Also, within the Messages menu, there’s a thing called Messages for Web. It’s supposed to be used for PCs, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work on a tablet if it’s just a browser tab.
Final option: I don’t know if the Airdroid client works on tablet to access a phone, but it’s worth a shot. I think there’s a browser option for that too.
I got a 4a losing the screenshot power button thing is annoying
Seems you have to drag bottom edge up and then click screenshot
It’s slow imo
So I downloaded an album I bought in Google Play and…it doesn’t show up anywhere on my phone. Oh, Play can access it, but I need to find it so I can move a song into a location where my ringtone app can access it. But…the phone doesn’t even list it as downloaded in the Files manager or in settings. It seems invisible.

I think you can only download as mp3 on a desktop browser - and only twice - and play music is going away because some moron thinks youtube music is a thing.
I think they changed some of their programs recently. There used to be a program called Downloads, I think. I’m not sure if it’s still there, but if not, Google Files is there now I think, and it gives you options on what to do with files on your phone.
Works for me, I just had to hold the buttons a little longer than before.
I find the Files program but the album does not seem to be there at all. Maybe I should have downloaded it in the browser? Eh. I’ll copy the thing I want to use for a ringtone from the PC I guess.

Apparently they have a new way to make screenshots, if dolls are still having problems.
If you hit the square on the right of the 3 universal icons on the bottom, the one that switches apps, now there’s a button that’s there that you can but to make screenshots, and it’ll take a screenshot of whatever app is centered.
Unless you’re using two button mode.
The navigation mode with gestures that Google sold us on two years ago: https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/how-to-use-android-9-pie-gesture-navigation/
I prefer it to the old mode but they’ve basically shat all over easy screenshots now unless you switch to the older 3 button mode again.
Looks like the Pixel 5 review embargo has lifted.
I read a CNET review of the 5 and they were very lukewarm. Thing is, one of its features over the 4a is wireless charging, which would be nice to have, and which few of the non-mega phones like the Galaxy 20s seem to have right now.
If I could be sure it would be a significant upgrade over my Pixel 2, I’d consider one, but really, I haven’t seen much from any of these phones that indicates my day to day use would be improved at all.
That is kinda where I am at. I keep thinking “maybe its time to upgrade my Moto Droid” but then I think “I don’t really use this online much, and it is perfectly adequate for a phone, and it seems fast enough and still in great shape.” It is hard to justify hundreds or even thousands of dollars to replace something that doesn’t need replacing.
Project Fi/Google Fi app has a “shop” tab that I occasionally check out to see if Google is running any deals on phones.
Currently they have:
Samsung Note 20 5G $1000, but with $300 Fi Credit
Samsung S20 5G $300 off, so $700
Samsung A71 5G $150 off, so $450
I’m assuming since they are on the Fi store that these phones are fully implemented with the Fi switching, going from T-mobile to Sprint to US Cellular depending whichever is the strongest signal?
I’ve heard of the Samsung flagship ones up top, but I’ve never heard of the A71 5G, is that supposed to be a good middle-range phone?
My Pixel 3 has been an excellent phone aside from the nightmare saga of trying to get the thing repaired, because the assholes make that as hard as possible. I have no plan or reason to upgrade until it starts failing on me.
Same here. Pixel 3 has definitely been my favorite phone so far, and I’ll keep it as long as it’s problem-free.
But it is nice to see more options show up on the Fi Store. For a while it felt like Pixel phones and Moto phones were the only options for Fi users.
