Anybody else using a Google Pixel 4a? I bought one back in February and I’ve liked it until a few hours ago when something took a shit and now I get zero cell coverage in my house, and the Wi-Fi connection (any Wi-Fi connection) keeps disconnecting / reconnecting every ten seconds or so, basically making the phone completely worthless.
I Googled the problem and it’s apparently widespread, so I assume the radio in these things is a trash heap. Unfortunately I’m well beyond my return window to Amazon, so now I have to send this thing in to Google for repair under warranty. To be honest with you I’d rather just have my money back so I can get something else so I don’t have to deal with this again, but it doesn’t look like that’s an option.
This is pretty damning. Here I am on year 3 of my OnePlus, such a great phone.

Got myself one in October and haven’t encountered any issues so far.
On the plus side, my experience with Google warranty repairs has been very positive.
I’m on my second since I already broke the first one, thank goodness for the extended warranty, it was only a $80 mistake (plus the monthly $5, :( )

I’ve had mine since last fall with no problems, but I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out!

Can you tell that you have this problem? I have the pixel 4a and haven’t noticed anything like the wifi cutting in and out every 10 seconds but I have noticed that my data use seems higher than normal on Chrome so I’m wondering if maybe my wifi is cutting out from time to time causing me to use my data. But usually I’m pretty good about noticing the LTE icon at the top of the screen when they happens and I haven’t noticed it recently.
Besides just watching the Wi-Fi icon and waiting for it to disconnect, I’m not sure there’s another way. I’m sitting here watching it do that right now. Neither of my computers, nor my iPad, have any issue staying connected.
On the plus side, I appear to have regained some level of cell signal, but since this Wi-Fi issue has yet to resolve itself, it will be mailed out for repair.
You could try turning of your cellular and going wifi only for a while to see if you experience no connection.
My Pixel 2 is still working, for which I am grateful, because none of the later Pixels are really appealing to me. In the Best Buy the other day, I picked up an iPhone 12, and that’s one sexy little device. Makes me wonder if I might be better off just ditching the Android phone and going with the hivemind for once. Of course, the nifty trade in deal Apple had was useless, because a Pixel 2 is ancient and no one wants one :).
Eh, I’ll probably hold on to my phone until it dies I guess.
I’ve been using my 4a for 10 months, no problems. Good battery life, good size.

Yeah, that was a positive surprise for me. I had to get a new phone since my Xperia Compact was on its last legs, and the increase in size was the one thing I dreaded about getting a new phone. Turns out the 4a had about the same width and was just about 1cm taller than my old device.
I’m getting kind of fed up with the SwiftKey keyboard. The swipe typing is getting to be a chore, with nearly every word wrong, and I also find myself needing to double-hit the Shift key for it to register. What’s a better keyboard?
I gave up and have been using Gboard for a minute with an acceptable amount of irritation.

Nothing beats old SwiftKey. Apparently is gotten pretty shit since Microsoft took it over. I’m currently using Gboard but not loving it.
I just tried Gboard after not having used it for probably eight years. Much better, I will just need to retrain myself on some of the shortcuts. Thanks!

Yes. MAGA people are dumb. Grifters gonna scam their own base.
An app store where apps can’t be banned? I can totally see this safe and securely private phone being a virus infested piece of um… phone.
