So is anyone getting a Pixel 5a?
My Pixel 3 is getting old, battery barely lasts half a day.
Waiting for the announcement + pricing + deals on the 6 still.
The phone subscription cost for 2 years via Fi , is like $9 a month. Then you get to keep the phone. That like $220 for a new 5a. I can’t imagine a better deal on phone as long as you are ok with the Fi network.
I have a strong feeling the Pixel 6 is going premium again. $900+ would be my guess.

Yeah someone here on the forums mentioned it once, it seems still too good to be true.
Google is giving you a new high-mid range phone to keep after 2 years of you paying $9 a month. I just keep reading it over and over and can’t believe it.
The 128GB of storage and huge battery really have me tempted.
So reading through looking for gotchas, it seems like:
- Cancel before two years: Pay the rest of the retail cost of the phone.
- Upgrade before one year: Pay the rest of the retail cost of the phone.
- Upgrade between 1-2 years: Pay the rest of the subscription cost.
So really, worst case you’re on the hook for the retail cost ($449) minus whatever $9 monthly payments you’ve made. The downside isn’t even that bad.
Yeah it seems great, unless you drop it in the toilet. :P

I once dropped a pager in a toilet in the 90’s. I used gloves and tongs to get it out and it still worked! I then threw all three away.
I told work I lost it, easier that way.
Well I’d be able to update the thread on the 5a except for the fact that FedEx are a collection of weeping anuses that have literally never managed to deliver a package on time to my address.
