I’m glad I ordered through Google Fi, I’ve had no issues. My brother ordered from the Google store, he had his first order cancelled after going through, but he got a second order in. And now he’s had his 2nd order cancelled too. Craziness.

My brother mentioned the Pro also has a different type of 5G support that the Non-Pro doesn’t have that should help in buildings.

I’m eager to see more performance comparisons, because damn that pixel 6 price is pretty tempting.

You should check out the store again if you want another colour, seems like they are all available again. I switched back to the blue with the olive buds. Should get here by next week with a bit of luck.

Pixel 6 Pro ordered from Verizon in the color ‘paper’.

Verizon’s claims I will get it on launch day next week!

Work pays my cell phone bill (including any monthly tab for a phone) so I get a new phone every two years.

Decided to go with the standard 6 in black. I had the Pro in my cart, but thinking about it… I don’t really game on my phone, and I don’t take a ton of pictures, so I don’t think I’d get anything out of the extra Pro features. So, my boss saves about 20 bucks a month!

Took at look at the website. Far bigger and heavier than the Pixel 4a, weird camera bump (bar?) on the back, no headphone jack. Sticking with my 4a for sure.

I usually buy phones around Black Friday, but I think I will wait 2022. I wonder if we will get this cheap shortage stuff handled by then.

If anyone gets chargers or covers for their Pixel 6 or 6 Pros let me know please. The ones from Google seem a bit steep.

Apparently the charger should have USB-PD 3.0 (PPS) support.

Now that my Moto X4 has become obsolete (needs 3G for voice), I need a decent mid-range phone. The fact that I still have a Moto X4 tells you that I don’t follow phones very closely :) Any recommendations?

I can watch the google store to see how much they discount the 5a now - not sure it would drop all the way in to my comfort level.

What plan are you on? Fi?

We just left fi, lured by $300 in incentives to move back to Consumer Cellular

Fi has a great deal on the 5a5g it works out to like $220 or so , with 24 months of Fi subscription. But that won’t be of much help. :P

Yep. The real driving force behind switching was that the rural location I go regularly to do astrophotography away from the city lights has no signal on fi, but does get a usable AT&T signal. It’s a bit uncomfortable being out in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night by oneself with no cell service.

Aside from the side discussion of fi - anyone have suggestions for an android phone in the $2-300ish range?

I’m often OK with bucking conventional wisdom and trends, but the QWERTY thing is very much not my cup of tea.

For $289 I almost feel like getting it just for shits and giggles and for the value of having people constantly asking me “what kind of phone is that?”
