I’ve gotten a few people asking me my own self. I honestly love the damned thing.

I probably would have bought one tonight but they don’t seem to be shipping to Canada. Boo.
I like that Titan usually refers to big things and pocket are the small versions of things. So that’s a big small. Or a small big I guess.
First review I’ve seen on Pixel 6 and 6 Pro - very positive!

Ordered a Sorta Seafoam Pixel 6, should have it Nov. 11th. Coming from a Samsung note 8 that is having issues. I no longer look forward to getting new phones but I suspect I will enjoy the lack of BS on a Pixel vs Samsung. Free $100 earbuds was nice bonus as well so seemed like a no brainer.
I just now realized that it’s not Fi sucking at phone, which it’s been known to do, but that my microphone straight up doesn’t work on my 5A 5G. I am not excited to have to RMA the damn thing.

This thing has a 1” camera sensor - like the minimum to get that “photo from a real camera” sharpness.
It’s also $1,800. The “I could buy my own DSLR for that” struggle is real.
But can you check Facebook on that dslr?
I’m not sure about the “1-inch sensor needed for sharpness” part. dslr sensors tend to have 4-5um pixels, smartphone sensors 1um. Of course, you also need a good lens, which is both easier and more likely in dslr-sized glass.
There’s also the fact that a $1500 DSLR (or honestly a $300 DSLR) will very likely last years and years and be a hell of a lot more usable (in the UX sense) than the camera on your phone.
You pay a lot to have it in your pocket…but then you have it in your pocket and it’s always with you.

My Pixel just updated to Android 12, and dear god I’m loathing it.
The clock on the lock screen is now HUGE, and displays the hour and minute without a colon between them, like this:
09
12
So the time looks like a date. There appears to be no way to customize this.
Conversely, the clock widget on the home screen is now tiny.
The notification shade now covers the entire screen the moment you pull it down even a little bit. No more just taking a peek at your notifications. It’s all-in or nothing. And the settings gear is now nowhere to be seen on the notifications. You have to release and pull down a second time (which there is no indication is even possible) to access it.
Worst of all (so far), there’s a new “can’t scroll anymore” indicator. Instead of the old grey bump overlay, now the entire screen stretches and bounces like it’s made out of jelly. It’s beyond obnoxious. I’m sure some engineering team at Google is super proud of it.
Some clock suggestions, method #4 with the screensaver might help?
I took a $100 trade in on my OnePlus 7 Pro and got a Pixel 6 Pro. Liking it so far.
It’s not night and day better, but there are many small well designed improvements. The camera does seem noticeably better than what I’m coming from, but that’s just a few random shots around the neighborhood.
And it’s great to have a new battery - that is very noticeable.
Swiping down to open the shade with two fingers opens the “full” shade. I use it all the time.

That’s great, but my point isn’t that swiping twice is difficult. My point is that it’s not readily discoverable. A two-finger swipe even less so. It’s bad design.
Yikes, Pixel 6 Pro 512GB ships in the middle of January from Google Store.
I got my coupon code for redeeming the Pixel Buds for free offer. But when I followed their link to the Google Store and applied the coupon code, I get the message “Coupon Code doesn’t exist”, which sounds more like an existential observation.
Anyway, I contacted support. If the past is anything to go by, they will contact me in 3 weeks after my time-frame for using the coupon has expired.
I had the same issue. You can’t copy and paste the code, since it has some hidden spaces in it. Instead type it manually… Worked for me.
Hey that worked! Thanks Mr IceBear!
Hahaha, I’m so used to string-mangling fuckery from coding that working through copy/paste errors like that is automatic ;)

I’m overall enjoying Android 12 on my newly arrived Pixel 6. My biggest gripe with the OS is that you now have an ‘Internet’ button in the notification shade, not a Wi-Fi toggle. In order to disable Wi-Fi but not cellular data, you need to tap into a submenu. Behavior is akin to the iPhone toggles, which suck.
