Hey friends, have a weird problem where timers don’t actually go off when they teach zero, they just keep counting past their allotted time. I figure there’s some permission or some such that’s messed up. Anyone have any clue as to what I can do to fix this? Thanks in advance.
Are you using the standard Android Clock, the Samsung Clock, or something else. Double check the Clock settings for alarm volume etc or any extreme system Do Not Disturb settings you may have set. Or maybe you have bluetooth to a random speaker somewhere you cannot hear. :) The timers will keep counting after they ring, so it sounds like you just aren’t hearing the alarm.
I’ma make an app called Extreme Do Not Disturb and buy a damn island.
I already have one – it’s called Power Off. :)
Yeah but does it have a curated user experience and 10,000 five-star ratings (for the low, low price of $99 or whatever that costs these days)?
I think it’s the Samsung clock. I’ll fiddle with it thank you!
You may also want to grab the Google/Android Clock app and see if you prefer that one. I prefer it to the Samsung app but YMMV.

If it’s the default Android Timer app, hit the three dots in the upper right. The alarm volume can be set to 0 in there. There’s also a timer sound which could be set to silent.
Once the timer expires, it will start counting negative. That part isn’t atypical.
Okay it IS the Google Clock that’s set when using Assistant, and it looks like shit was set right but I set everything again.
K I’m not even sure what I changed but now it’s going off on the phone AND my Google watch, so yay! Thanks for your help everyone!
On my Google clock, I have multiple alarms set. One for waking up on weekdays, one for time to start getting ready on weekdays. One for getting up for work on Saturdays, one for time to start getting ready on Saturdays, one for a work related deadline in the middle of the day on weekdays.
The early morning sometimes fails to go off. I’m not sure why. But turning it on and off again usually fixes it. That’s also why i have the backup alarm for getting ready for work, in case the early morning one gets wonky again, at least I’ll wake up in time to not be late.
I just began using the samsung clock for the alarm since it links to the phone’s bedtime mode which I love so much. It’s been doing great so far.
Has anybody experienced the problem of having certain apps (Reddit and ESPN) not load pictures over WiFi? The apps work fine over cel data, but my Note 20 won’t show Reddit images (will slowly load video) and my ESPN app won’t load at all over wifi. I’ve tried messing with settings, turning wifi off and on, resetting Note 20 network settings, etc. I am connecting through an eero wifi mesh and IPv6 is on.
Any ideas?
Update on my Note 20 problem. I finally restarted my AT&T router and that fixed the wifi problem. It was a very strange issue - apps like Flipboard wouldn’t display images (but would videos), Facebook was fine, reddit showed videos but no images loaded, and the ESPN app showed nothing (stuck at a loading screen). Restarted all of my eeros - nothing. Changed some modem settings - nothing. Restarted the modem and, magically, everything works.
Maybe something weird like stale DNS entries for the Reddit image server. So the phone was using the old IP the router fed it which was wrong.
Samsung had a press event scheduled today to unveil its new Exynos chip, the ARM CPU with AMD RDNA2 graphics.
Except nothing happened. Samsung didn’t cancel the event. Everyone showed up (virtually) except for Samsung.
That doesn’t bode well…
The current 5G rollout spat is between carriers (FCC) and airlines/ports (FAA).

I feel gross siding with the telecoms, but it sounds like they’re in the right here.

I wrote a long, angry screed about how the airline industry has pulled this shit in the past multiple times, and how the problem is that they refuse to upgrade/repair their equipment to meet the legal standards. Then I deleted that.
Suffice it to say that as evil as the telecom industry is/can be, they are probably in the right on this, at least from a morality perspective. OTOH, no one wants to see planes crashing – it’s just frustrating because the airline industry is too cheap to resolve the issues.
