Very nice, did you get the 7 regular or pro?
Just the regular, don’t want the extra size.
@ArmandoPenblade these have some of the best cameras on the market, you should see the trade-in value being offered. It might not cost you much more.
edit: you would get $590 with google store for the S21 Ultra 128GB and $630 with best buy plus the $100 or $200 gift cards/store credit
My pixel 3 is worth $15 at Best Buy. :D
I think Best Buy trade-in is better for newer devices, but for older ones, Google is giving more. My Pixel 3 XL gets me $30 at BB or $275 at Google.

Given the battery sizes are pretty much the same and it seems to be using the same CPU as last year, can we expect better than the poor battery life of the 6/6 Pro?
I don’t understand why Google somehow still think, all these years after the Nexus 5, that having subpar battery life is a worthy trade-off for… I’m not even sure what actually, they’re not exactly compact devices.
I could have gotten a 6 Pro very cheaply earlier this year (stacking discounts, direct from Google) but a look at battery life charts made me realise that my 2 year old p30 pro, with it’s aged battery, would still offer better battery life than a brand new 6 Pro.
I’ve had the 6 since launch, no real battery issues. Occasionally just needs a reboot if it drains too quickly.

YMMV, but every review I read that tested battery for the Pixel 6/Pro, noted subpar battery life. If you came from previous devices that had poor battery life, or you’re used to charging often, you might not notice it - but I’ve been using phones for the last 5 years that only needed charging every 36-48 hours (LG V30, then P30 Pro)!
My 6 Pro has fine battery life. Not epic, but it always makes a full day with typical use.
I am considering a trade in from the 6 Pro to 7 normal - that smaller size is tempting, and I rarely use the telephoto lens and am even more rarely impressed with it. Nice that both sizes include the wide angle, which I find great.
Thanks for doing this research! I’ve always shied away from doing trade-ins for three increasingly silly reasons:
- We sometimes send old phones to my family in Guatemala because violent robberies are so common there that people take to carrying spare phones to give to muggers (fairly legit reason)
- Sometimes my new phone falls off a high place and shatters or just has a black screen of death out of nowhere and having something relatively recent on retainer is nice while the new one gets fixed
- I’m vaguely paranoid about a new device being “ready for prime time” action for a few days as I make extra special quadruple sure that all my shit got transferred over
That said, damn, $600 would go a long ass way towards making me feel better about those reasons, hah.
Whoa, trade in value of my ancient Pixel 3 on the google store is almost 8x what it was on Best Buy.

And they are giving out $100 in store credit. Which will cover the cost of a case, screen protector and 30w charger.

Guess I am buying direct from Google.
or you could get some free pixel buds and pick these up from amazon instead for half the price.
Are pixel buds good? I have a el-cheapo set of Motorola buds right now.
Pretty good, probably better than what you have.
I don’t have the Pros with the noise-cancelling, I just have the normal Pixel buds that came with the Pixel 6 Pro last year.
And they’re really good!
The only negative thing about them is that they’re bluetooth and sometimes don’t disconnect properly when I put them back in the case, or give me random static when I’m walking and listening, but it’s pretty rare.
I would definitely recommend them. They are 1000% times more comfortable than the wired headphones that came with the Pixel 3. Words cannot express how much my ears thank me for switching.
Thanks for this. I may have found something to use my $100 store credit on.
What case is everyone getting? Two on amazon I am trying to decide on:
- Spigen case
- Caseology case
- Bareback, keep it natural
- ShitzBonersDontCare
I use the Caseology Parallax case on my 6 Pro. So does my daughter on her 6. It’s a good case.

Just checked the trade-in value of my Pixel 3A and its 120€ over here, while the 3 (64GB) is only 100€. Thats quite a big difference to @lordkosc 's trade-in value of 247$ for his Pixel3 64!
Guess they reckon us Europeans are richer and deserve less of a trade in?
Maybe they felt more sympathy for me with my old phone. :D

I find we get a terrible offer here in Canada as well. It seems like it’s just the US that really gets a lot of money for their used phones.
