@Chris_Johnson are you using the pen case?
Yes, using the Samsung version. I actually don’t put it (the pen) on the back of the phone (I have the stand attachment on it at all times). I’d need to take it off (the pen attachment) to use wireless charging, so I just leave it off and reach for the pen as needed.
The only reason I would consider using a case would be to make the pen easier to carry around and have available :-)
But this hardware is seriously pleasant to hold and use, even more so than my iPhone 14 Pro Max. I won’t cover it up. Great materials and build quality.
I really like how the S22 Ultra and the Fold feel compared to the 14 Pro Max. The iPhone is boxy and heavy, The Ultra feels lighter and I like its shape (iPhone is wider). The Fold will be near perfect once they can further slim down its size. I am OK using the smaller screen for most things, but it is still too thick.
The S22 Ultra feels great to hold, aside from being a little slippery.
I initially got the S22 Plus, but couldn’t hold it for long due to the thick sharp edges, which I imagine is similar to the iphone. Reluctantly gave the Ultra a try (didn’t care for the curved screen and thought it too large) and glad I did. The slimmer curved edges make it feel smaller than it is, and I got used to the curved screen after a while (this thing has such a gorgeous screen, by the way).
Tried a case and took it off as it added a lot of bulk. First time I’ve gone naked with a new phone. Have had a few low-height drops indoors, but no damage so far. A sleekly beautiful device like this shouldn’t be covered up (let’s see how long before I totally wreck it!).

The current design trend of making phones out of frictionless glass, is not a good decision.
Yeah, the Pixel 7 Pro feels light and great to hold, but it slips out of my hand almost instantly without a case. It’s like a wet bar of soap.

The camera bar at least gives it something that can catch on things, but it’s still crazy how frictionless it is.
The same with my previous S20… The thing would be sitting on the arm of my couch which to all appearances is a level surface… but if some tiny part of the phone was sticking out over the edge, it would eventually just slide off the couch without any prompting. It was nuts.
I’ve just put my Pixel 7 pro into a quadlock case, and while it’s not as pretty, it’s much easier to hold onto and not slide away… also it’s very nice for biking.

The Duo has two physical screens, but it’s actually just one single display with an imaginary gap, so I would imagine that any Microsoft apps would work great on a Samsung Fold type device.
I don’t see much tablet discussion here, at least not lately. Is this the best thread for it? Are we all just on our fancy fold phones now?
I picked up a Scribe recently that I now want to pair* with a new tablet. My old one is…well, let’s just say that it’s long past it’s expiration date, despite meeting very basic needs. I would like something that’s fairly cheap and works decently with a pen and keyboard. The Lenovo P11 Plus looks like it would check these boxes. Any other opinions?
* by pair I mean I would read and hand-write on the Scribe, and do everything else on the tablet
I rarely use a computer any more outside the office, and i refuse to live in the Kindle walled garden. For years i used a Tab A, but it was dying, so i finally sprung for a 6A, refurbed–they are hard to find for some reason.
Amazingly fast–games load in about 1/4 the time. Holds a charge well, and takes up to a 1TB micro-SD, so my entire music collection is on it. The speakers are Atmos Dolby, so excellent play if i don’t use headphones.
I just convert books to Epub and use a very nice reader named Prestigio.
Anyway, very happy with the device.
Thanks for the suggestion. I suppose I should have avoided mentioning a Kindle device in the Android thread, as that may have muddied my question a bit.

I know they’re not pretty, but I miss the textured plastic of older phones. I also don’t really get the trend of making phones increasingly longer. As I mentioned, I just updated to a Pixel 6A, and the form factor seems a little silly. I can’t reach the top of my phone one-handed without some serious stretching (which also makes it feel like I’m going to drop it). I get phones getting larger, mainly for video consumption, but the phone adds black bars on the side to 16x9 content. Maybe I missed out on the explanation on why this is desirable.
Otherwise I’m really enjoying the 6A, except for the fingerprint sensor. I’d read a lot of reviews complaining about it, but hoped it was just typical internet complaining. I’d also read that the recent update fixed it for a lot of people, but while it may be slightly better, I’m still having a lot of rejected attempts and it’s pretty frustrating. I’ve added, removed, and re-added my fingerprints several times, both before and after the update. The reader will typically work ok for a bit after readding them, but gets to a point where it rejects almost every attempt (although my left hand seems to work a little more often than my right). I don’t use a screen protector either.

Oh, on cases I ended up trying out about 6 or 7 different types, but I think I’m settled on the Spigen Tough Armor. I initially thought it was too bulky, but the more I’ve used it the more I appreciate it having a little heft, and it gives the phone a better footprint to grip.
I’ve used the Tough Armor case for my last two phones. No major drops so far, but I figure it’s better to have it and not need it than vice versa.
All right, BennyProfane more or less convinced me to pick up a Galaxy Tab S7 FE 2021, renewed (refurbished). Anyone have one, or any alternative suggestions?

This is pretty much my experience as well… I mentioned upthread that I had to key in my security pattern after the fingerprint scanner all the time, which puzzled me , but it turns out the finger was just not registering and thus the phone switched over to the other unlocking option.
Its really disappointing as the fingerprint scanner on the back of the 3A was basically faultless & worked every single time. So yeah, BOOO for the new scanner!
As to the cover, I’ve also gone with a Spigen for this and the previous phone and am happy with it.
Yeah, underscreen fingerprint reader on my S20U is so much worse than the back-of-the-phone options from my prior couple of Samsungs. What a silly, pointless “upgrade.”
I have a galaxy 7 something. I don’t use the pen.
The stock launcher sucks a lot. The leftmost “desktop” is some stupid TV watching app, for example. I replaced it with the microsoft launcher and it feels closer to a stock android like in my pixel phone
I have no idea if that breaks pen navigation.
Yeah, that Samsung app “Free” sucks, I ignore it. And Bixby too.
