I’ve got a similar line… OG - 3A - 6A, so its working alright for me too.
Though I still really miss the fingerprint scanner on the back!
It’s the main reason I don’t want to move away from Pixel 5, other than money of course.
I’ve just consigned myself to using the front fingerprint sensor, it not recognizing me twice, and then finally recognizing me. Or not recognizing me the third time either and then putting in my 6 digit code instead. It was annoying with the Pixel 6 Pro, but by the time I traded it in and got the Pixel 7 Pro, I was used to it.
The fingerprint sensor in the back was amazing, but we’re never getting it back, so it’s no use lamenting it. Best to just get used to the new way and move on.
The front fingerprint sensor on my galaxy S10 basically never fails, unless it try a weird angle.
I had that on the Essential. God I miss that phone.
This is probably what it is on the Pixel 6 and 7 too. That was the beauty of the back sensor. It was hard to ever do a weird angle, just by virtue of where the sensor was. There’s only so many ways you could touch it, and all those ways were covered. On the front sensor, there’s a bunch more ways I can touch it, and apparently I do.
I wish there was a Pixel with the Essential dimensions.
Still the best phone I’ve ever had, in so many ways.

I’ve used back, side, and under the screen finger print sensor.
Back sensor is great but under the screen, at least on my Galaxy s23+, is good enough. I would still rate it worse than back sensor because back sensor usually has a groove so you know exactly where to put the finger, but under-the-screen sense has no groove and sometimes you have to guess a bit where to put the finger, especially when the screen is off.
But with a bit of practice it is ok now. It is good enough.
Side sensor is acceptable but not great. You probably have to enroll the same finger twice just to make it work well.
