I’m a fan of Graham because he lives in a data center, so I can accept that :-)
Also, a hamster pumping iron is adorbs. (I know, not his main thing, but he’s stood in the square and done it anyway.)

Tangy is adorable. She just moved out of Crimsote, oddly enough . Went to find New horizons!

@Calelari For me, I do want at least one of each personality type, just the variety of conversations, and their interactions with each other. Also, you know how you get DIYs from your villagers that are crafting? Each personality type has a specific list of DIYs that they can give you, so if you don’t have a jock? You’re missing out on a whole list of DIYs that jock types can give you. (Though you can, of course, trade for them.)
You will always have at least two dupes though since there are 8 types and 10 villager slots. I right now have two jocks and two lazies. I think if Paolo or Bam ever ask to leave, I will let them (I have both their photos). Even though I love them both, they both are “starter” residents for me and I’ll be free to replace them with any personality type I want.
I have played Animal Crossing games since Wild World, so I have some familiarity with many of the villagers and I have my favorites and sought afters, but also seek out cute ones that I’ve maybe never had as a resident. (Variety is good!) I use an app called ACNH Guide which is fabulous for many, many things, but also has a villager database so I could go through all the peppies and “favorite” the ones I wanted, then have it handy when searching. It’s a great app, I highly recommend it. (I like it enough that I paid the $3.00 or whatever it was to remove the ads. The developer of it has done great work and continues to update it.)
I did not know this. Thank you! (I’m also a slacker about checking up on my villagers in their homes.)
I’ve had 3 residents leave so far and Sheldon was the first one from my original villagers (the ones that won’t fully upgrade their homes).
I’ll definitely check that app out.
Wow, thanks for that tip, @Hansey. I had no idea that DIY recipes are unique to each villager, as we’ve kept the cuteness on overload and avoid a bunch of personality types. Now I’ll have to try switching out my least liked villagers and bring in some other ‘least liked’ just to keep a variety.

If you’re not adverse to information from wikis and such, this page has a table with tabs so you can see which personality types can give you which recipes.
It also mentions that apparently there is a small chance they may give you a recipe obtainable from any villager (which I did not know), but they are most likely to give you one specific to their personality. You can also get any of these recipes from the daily bottle on the beach (that I did know).

Last call for Zucker before I dump him on discord…
He gone.
Hey guys? Fall starts tomorrow. Catch them bugs while you can!
That is all.
I got three rares still to catch before tomorrow - including one that only comes out while I’m asleep :-(
Everything else looks to be around for at least another month.
How does it know when you’re asleep??
My son caught a bug that A) only appears in July and August, and B) he accidentally sold instead of donating it. So not only does he have a missing insect, but it’s there in his encyclopedia, taunting him.
Also, man I need to clear out my storage. Too many purchases.
I’ve maxed out that 1600 storage so many times now it’s getting a bit ridiculous. I hate selling stuff or giving it away (the latter because I seem to always get stuff in return), but I’ve been convincing myself that I have multi-millions in bells so I can always buy the stuff again if I want to. Still so hard letting go. I’m such a hoarder.

Yeah, this is me too. My storage is also always bursting, but I’ve gotten pretty good and purging things that I don’t think I’m going to need anytime soon and can just re-order. It’s annoying that if there’s something I really want immediately I have to wait a day for it, but honestly, that’s going to happen so rarely, I’m not too concerned about it anymore. I always have to make sure though on some things that it’s a thing that can actually be re-ordered, rather than things like Saharah only rugs and wallpapers, or fishing and bug tourney rewards, or other things of that nature.
My biggest problem right now is clothes. Early on I’d buy one of everything in every color, not realizing how much there really is. Some I save because I might want to give it to one of my villagers, and others because “I might wear this one day.” But I’m getting better at purging all that stuff too. After all, summer is almost over and I have almost no clothes appropriate for autumn in my storage… never mind winter, hehe.
Isn’t that what other accounts on the Switch are for? :-D
Funny guy :-)
It’s active hours are like 11pm to 8am. I’m either asleep, driving to, or at work.

Haha, I have considered it, but I don’t really want to plop down another house that I then have to keep switching accounts to use. I did that in New Leaf, and it got kinda tiresome fast. I know loads of people do exactly that though!
Ah, the scarab beetle. I’m trying to get three of those to get a model made so I can give it to Ankha (because scarab beetles belong in an Egyptian tomb). So far I have caught two, and the first one went to Blathers, so I need two more, but I’m not usually playing that late. One of these days I’ll make the effort though.
We just made another account last night: My son wants to set up a separate diner/museum/arcade, and I want some extra storage space. It’s a win-win!
(Also, I hung a bunch of clothes on the walls of my basement, so that freed up a bunch of storage space. I really need to do a Konmari purge one of these days.)

Wow, after building my giant robot and getting a 5-star island rating, I’ve gone from playing this daily and turnip-speculating to popping in three times a week for general island maintenance and in vain attempts to find Celeste.
Hope there’s some compelling new content released over the next few months. I imagine most early players are running out of new things to do…

Nobody in my family has fired it up in a month or so (I guess whenever they did the fireworks update). But we’ve definitely gotten way more than our money’s worth out of it, even if there’s no more updates.

There will definitely be more updates, there are still things that have been datamined that we haven’t seen yet. Exactly when we’ll be getting them remains to be seen, and whether or not there is still more content being developed that’s not even in the files yet (and therefore can’t be datamined).
I play less than I was, but I’m still playing at least a little bit every day, and still enjoying it, but I totally get how people might get bored without more things to do.
It’s officially Fall as of today, which means new bugs, new fish, and a whole new season of crafting recipes.
