I just kind of plopped down blobs of each type of flower with all the colors mixed up. I probably have all the prereq hybrids for all the other hybrids that need them and don’t even know it!
I only recently started separating them into blobs by color, but I’m not doing anything systematic.
If you want to do something systematic (and by all means, don’t feel any obligation to), there’s a 12x12 layout to breed all flowers. The workflow is kind of complex, but at least it takes up a much smaller area.
With the older layouts, you would plant a huge field of flowers to increase your chances of getting a particular hybrid. The newer layout is much smaller, so that hopefully it’s easier to water every day (or get friends to help you water). Not everyone’s cup of tea though.

I’ve never really tried at getting the different hybrids, but just let them pop up whenever they would, except for a little plot of five cosmos I had to get myself a black one (cosmos are my fave). Blue rose is one I don’t have, and I don’t believe I have any roses planted that would make the right combo to get them by chance (despite having a LOT of flowers on the island). But, this is one of those aspects of the game I just like leaving be as I won’t wreck my natural look to ‘garden’ the place.
Still an open offer! I can always spare a blue rose.

No dumb reasons! I wanted to do them all myself too, it just feels good to have that sense of accomplishment! That said, I did get lucky with some hybrid hyacinths and windflowers back at release when you could get hybrids of your native and sister flowers on Nook Miles Islands. Also, someone here (I can’t remember who, I’m sorry!) offered me a purple tulip early on, which I accepted, so I only had to clone that one. In retrospect, I wish I’d declined, but I had a weak moment, hehe. ;)
That said, I have no problems with anyone accepting gifted flowers - the breeding is pretty time consuming and finicky (for some flower types more than others) and sometimes all you want is to just decorate!

I did all the flowers a long long time ago :) What a fiasco. I noticed the thread today and realized it’s been Unknown Time since I last fired up AC. Maybe on the 30th.

Paolo has asked me today to move out, and as much as I love him, I’m letting him go, primarily because he still has his starter house. I’ve still got Erik to take care of his bugs. ;)
He’s been gifted a bunch of clothes, most of which look really good on him (which is no easy feat, given his round, pink body shape!) including what is pictured here.
We had a going away party for him, where all his bug friends got to come too.
If there’s any interest in a lazy pink elephant, give me a shout. He’ll be in boxes tomorrow. I’ll give him away on r/nofeeac later today if there’s no interest (or no space). :)

Lovely people over there, I haven’t had a bad experience there yet. (Though I’ve only had a handful of interactions so far.) I guess it’s because people who are just happy to give things away for free are just much kinder people. ;)

How could you! I <3 Zell. He’s my favoritest smug. Way better than Hippeaux, who was the first smug I had. Couldn’t wait for him to leave.
That said, I’ve seen Chadder before, but he’s not for me. I’m actually looking forward to NMT searching for Paolo’s replacement, because I don’t need to fill his personality type (he is one of two lazies I currently have, and Erik may NEVER LEAVE). There are a handful of villagers I would so love to have because I’ve had them previously (in New Leaf) or just because they appeal to me. I can’t wait to see who pops up first! (I hope it’s Fauna, lol.)

I’ve already planted my pumpkin patch, and yeah, bought my one daily candy. Not sure what they’re going to be for – I assume they’ll have a purpose on Halloween night, but I’ve purposely been trying to stay in the dark as much as possible to discover the joy myself. But as soon as Nooks told me today that I could only buy one piece each day, I figured I’d better stockpile them, hehe.
I spent another part of the day searching for Paolo’s replacement, and after passing up Flora twice, and Octavian once, I ended up finding Meringue on island #10. I wasn’t looking for anyone specific, but had several that I knew I’d take if they showed up, and Meringue was the first one. (Though I did think long and hard about Flora. The only thing that stopped me was that she’s a peppy, and I currently have Tangy who is already my most recent resident, and I don’t think I can bear two peppies. ;) )
Anyway, between Tangy and Meringue, I now have an orange and a strawberry living on my island. ;)
Meringue was the first character I found while island hopping, and she does not disappoint! I’m glad you ran into her too.
Yes, I’m staying in the dark too about the Halloween events. I planted my pumpkin patch though, and I’m thinking about starting a second one just to have extras! Should be fun!
