I have like a hundred (it seems) recipes just lying on the ground on my island. You are welcome to add me (see post #2 in the thread for all our codes) and then visit and take as many as you like.

I’m having a lot trouble getting iron ingots. I accidentally destroyed several large rock things so I can only get like 3 iron ingots per day. Is there a way I can get a lot more really fast? Like get 20 in one day so I can give them over so the shop gets built!

The rocks will grow back. I will say this is not a game to be in a rush with.

I don’t know if you can get tickets for island tours yet, but if you can, go fly somewhere, bring some shovels, and mine the local rocks for iron.

Yeah, this. Other islands are a great source of iron. Also if you’re accidentally destroying rocks I think you must be eating fruit first or something.

If you don’t mind my saying so, you seem to be trying to rush through it. Why? There’s plenty to see and do (for the first year anyway) and if you play every day you’re not going to miss anything!

As @Kolbex said, rocks will respawn. You should have six rocks in total on your island, but I think only one will respawn per day.

That said, you shouldn’t destroy any rocks, unless you don’t like where they are and want them to respawn elsewhere. You can actually collect 8 things in total per rock every day.

  1. Most important: make sure you have not eaten any fruit. If you have a fruit counter in the corner of your screen, hitting a rock will destroy it.
  2. Use your shovel to hit rocks. I think a lot of people use the axe, but I think the shovel is easier for finding the rhythm to hit the rock eight times in a row.
  3. Make sure you’re standing in the right spot, a spot where you won’t be knocked back on every hit, before starting to spam hit the rock. You can do this by digging holes in a way that they stop you from moving. Rather than try to explain it, here is a short video (about 30 sec) showing the technique:

You should have plenty of iron in no time! I still play AC almost every day. Feel free to add me as an in-game friend! (My code is in the early post up top.)

Can you actually get 8? I have only ever gotten 7.

I ran out of things to do on my own island (I’m in hospital so a lot of time to while away). I did eat 10 oranges because the little bear kept talking about eating fruit lol.

I went to two places that way and only got 3 iron from each. Going to read the next post, as I think I’m doing this wrong.

Awesome, that helps a lot. And yea I was totally doing this wrong. I was using the stone axe thing.

You can, but the timing has to be perfect. The method in the linked youtube video has never failed me (as long as I’m angled correctly). Keep in mind that anything on the ground in one of the eight spots surrounding the rock will also stop an item from landing there.

I have oranges.

Yeah, when you’ve eaten fruit, you can 1) dig up entire trees with your shovel (so you can move them elsewhere if you want) and 2) break rocks. There isn’t really any use for eating fruit otherwise.

Also, I guess this counts as spoiler-y (if you want to discover these things yourself) so I’ll blur it:

If you get your hands on any toilet furniture, sitting on it will reduce any outstanding fruit counter to zero, haha.

What do you need to water? Newly planted trees?

Flowers need to be watered if you want them to spread or breed. Breeding is how you create other colors of flower that you can’t buy seeds for. (There are entire articles and detailed charts online about flower breeding). You’ll notice on a day after it rains you’ll have new flower buds pop up near existing flowers - this is because they got watered. Immature flowers will still fully grow without being watered though.

Pumpkin plants also need to be watered every day in order to get a full harvest (three pumpkins per plant).

Did you find one that worked for.you? My girlfriend tried several, all of which differed in certain particulars and worked to an extent but none of which ever resulted in the ultimately looked for flower: a blue rose.

The blue rose was the second last flower I was able to breed, while using this guide. I had the blue roses pop from the last sets of orange, though, and didn’t need to go to the reds. It’s a very long process. Once you get a single blue rose they duplicate themselves like mad.

I’ve had less success with what should be an easy breeding: the green mums. Seed whites>purples>green. No luck.

There are two methods to breeding blue roses… One is easier but takes a lot longer because of RNG, the other is more involved, but will guarantee results eventually. It requires paying a lot more attention to know which hybrids are which, but it does work, and I’m swimming in blue roses now, so much so that after it rains I actually end up selling extra blue roses to Nook’s. (They’re wortjh 1000 each!). I’m happy to bring you some if you’re still after them, hehe.

Also, depending on how organized/compulsive/etc you are - I use this to keep track of what recipes and stuff I have:

I guess knowing every villager/item/fish/bug/flower/etc and how to obtain is kind of spoiler-y, so fair warning.

I could be interested. Either it takes a lot longer than I thought it would or I’m shite at tracking hybrids.

Sure, give me a shout if you want me to bring you some. I could bring five or so, then if you water them regularly, they should spread pretty quickly.
