Did the super secret post credits bonus scene play for you?
That’s… how tipping works in general. No one is supposed to ask for a tip, your waitress won’t ask for one, neither will someone that carries your bags into your room, for example. If someone has to ask for a tip it’s not a tip anymore.
The Sleep button menu? Yep!
One doesn’t have to ask for a tip but can still expect it. Like a waitress or a bell hop, for instance.
Yes, that’s what I am saying, exactly.
That said, I don’t really mind not getting tipped, but I think if anyone in the future is going to go through the trouble of opening up their island and keeping it open for everyone to partake of their generosity you can bet I will be one that tips as a thank you for the effort, regardless of how large or small the community is that I get the DODO code from.
When you’re making 1.5-3.5 million bells by taking a trip (or two) to a certain person’s island it is just such a pain to drop off a 99k bell stack.
I mean, you might go bankrupt out of kindness.
No I’m not aiming this at anyone but just yelling at the clouds.
You have no idea how many bridges and elevations I need! Neeeeeed!!!
I am sorry for not leaving a tip. I was in such a rush to get in that I completely forgot. It won’t happen again, and I can easily drop off some bells to make up for it.
Not necessary, but I appreciate the sentiment.

So, I didn’t get to visit Scott’s island, but I have a Discord channel of buddies who have been gaming together since March 16, 1999 and a bunch are playing ACNH. (Name the game we met in!) Even though we are buds and have known each other forever we still tip each other when someone’s island is open. The main reason I think is because Nintendo’s multiplayer system for this game of saving constantly, loading constantly, etc. is such a glorious pain in the butt that it makes it really inconvenient to be a friendly cooperative player in this game! It’s an easy “thank you” to your buds for helping the cause. I feel like I should tip anyone, QT3ers included just for offering to open up in the first place. At the same time, like many of you I wouldn’t actually expect a tip from anyone, just happy to help my fellow gamer. Weird?
In Discord we count tips in bags, so 1-3 bags is usually customary. 2 bags per trip is a good rule of thumb for proper Brodeo rules.
As an Aside… Is it me or is it just weird to not see @Scotch_Lufkin 's selfie icon now?!? I feel like its been there for years…
Not just you. I have to double check to see who it is now when I see his new icon.
I still never really got over his and divedivedive’s name changes tbh
Guys I sm right here! :)
New icon is just for fun. It’s a painting I made that Mom bought from me to give to her mom last week.
Awww, that’s cool! Think my cousin Redd would sell me a copy?

He would but it may or may not have a coffee ring stain on it…
I remember that I dropped a stack of Bells last time I did a bunch of trips, finally getting that it was considered polite. I would continue doing that, 1 or 2 stacks, now that I’ve broken the 4 million Bell barrier, it just seems trivial if it makes people happy. In any case, I appreciate all those who have opened up, and I’m also fine with those who will never do so due to the annoyance. If I ever have good Bell prices (I’ve never seen a number over 120), I will absolutely open my island up and not expect a single tip from a Qt3er.
Honestly, if it’s a developed island you’re visiting and it looks like they’re breeding flowers, then watering them is probably the best tip/thank you that you can give.
Yes! I’ll post a Dodo code in just a moment.
Edit: PM’d. I’ll be waiting.
