So yesterday I managed to snag the much coveted kitchen island from my Nook’s, and in white even. I’m happy to let anyone drop by to catalog it if you’ve been waiting for it. Drop me a PM and I can open up for a visit.
Correction: my kitchen island is silver, not white. It looked white in the shop to me. Still a decent kitchen color, so I’m not disapppinted.
I find that I’m suddenly angry that I can only have one island per Switch.

It was my friend Tori for me, IIRC. We all remember that moment when we finally got out from under Nook’s cruel/kind/neutral thumb!
At 5:50am, my wife was already awake, reading on her iPad, trying to get back to sleep.
Me, rolling over and checking my phone: “Welp, looks like I’m getting up.”
Wife: “You’re getting up?? Why?!”
Me: “To buy turnips.” And I was out the door before the inevitable followup questions.
That said, my wife does ask an awful lot of questions about this game, so hopefully she understood.
My gf was actually the only one that managed to wake up in time for turnips this past week. My drive has decreased since getting “rich enough,” but now that I see the price tags on some of the gold items at Nook’s Cranny, I’m wondering if I need to spin up the old Engines of Capital again. . .

This is the reason I have not paid off my final loan to Nook. I could afford to do it right now and still have a decent amount left over, but what’s the point? My house is at max size, my storage is maxed out. The only reason to pay off the loan is to get unlimited free house customization options… which only cost 50,000 each. Honestly, I love the way my house looks right now, and am unlikely to ever change it again, except to get the Nook Miles achievement associated with it.
No, Tom Nook can wait for his 2.4 million, and watch me regularly withdraw 200k to go buy the latest shiny from Timmy and Tommy. (Today I bought some gorgeous, exotic kimono stand for 220k. Not sure where I’m going to display it, or if I’m going to at all, but I HAVE IT.)
All of this is why I want a 2nd island or to start again. Except the thought of starting over makes my stomach churn.
I visited someone’s island and she had something similar: More Bells than she could count, hadn’t paid off her final house payment, flower fields and orchards as far as the eye could see…but she didn’t have a high enough rating or enough villagers (she was maybe at six?) to get Tom Nook or the island customization options. Different priorities for everyone I guess.
I’m still trying to figure this out. Are you just out of challenges, so you want to start over to get all-new challenges?
