Not an anime but it will do.
I just watched the first episode of Gokaiger and it was quite great. I don’t usually like Super Sentai series as the costumes, weapons and use of CG is crappy and there’s basically no story, but this series has some really absurd choreography and cameos from all the past series. Also the pirate themes and characters that do not annoy me.
Don’t know if they can keep the production value of the first episode for the rest of the series, but it was great fun to watch :)

Anniversary shows usually have much larger budget than a typical series, since they can support additional merchandise lines. A typical anniversary show will look better-than-usual all the way through.
Japanese CG, especially on television, is usually pretty awful by American standards. Even at that, Toei’s actually one of the poorer Japanese effects houses when it comes to CG. No effort goes into integration.

Which is why I’d totally go for no CG at all. The old shows can look so much better because they are so traditionally done.
It’s the stuff that continues to be real like the costumes that makes the show good. I like this one IN SPITE of the CG.

Ehh. I dunno. Go watch an episode of Sun Vulcan or Goggle V and say that you truly, honestly think it looks better than Gokaiger. I can’t imagine anyone doing this. Maybe Ohranger, but that was the '95 anniversary show, it ran in the old time slot, and had a ludicrous budget. Every anniversary show after that was well into the CG era.
CG came into Super Sentai in the late 90s, it’s used quite a bit in Go Go V and Gingaman. I find it only honestly, seriously doesn’t work in the shows when they try to build CG robots, like Hurricanger or Abaranger, because CG that conveys a sense of weight and mass is difficult to create.
Tsuburaya can do it but Toei has never pulled it off. That’s why the initial attempt at making the robots all-CG at the turn of the century gave way to the suits coming back for the robot sequences in every recent show except Gokaiger, which is trying to re-integrate the CG.
If Super Sentai gave up CG at this point it’d have to give up a lot the storytelling style it has adopted over the past few years. Personally I think using CG to create power effects and visuals rather than objects is the way to go for tokusatsu’s low-budget nature.
CG going away is just not happening. Even Tsuburaya, the studio miniatures built, has produced films with entirely green-screened backgrounds.
FYI, the Gundam 00 movie is out on the interwebs. The aged character designs are pretty good, and I thoroughly enjoyed it (was always a 00 fan, though). High production values.
I think I liked the last episode of Level E the most, the colour rangers episodes while slightly amusing just never did it for me.
I just found out that there is a second season of Gunslinger Girl. Is it any good?
Please read the manga and skip the second season.
I think I liked the last episode of Level E the most, the colour rangers episodes while slightly amusing just never did it for me.
Colour rangers episodes were great, the bus episode and the 2 episodes about the alien girl and the “guy” were the weakest part of the show.
I haven’t watched much anime for quite some time- nothing really interested me. But, I just became aware of a new Last Exile series.

Deadman wonderland anime started.
I can’t say i’m really surprised they decided to censor some of the more violent scenes, but come on people, i feel like i’m playing doom 3 where everything is pitch black!
Here’s a preview of the new anime season.

I guess you never know with just capsules like that, but at a glance it seems pretty godawful.
How many times is he going to keep remaking Appleseed? The first one was OK, the remake movie was godawful. GITS is ten times better, but 3D, bah.
And what the hell, a series about a 10-year-old who drinks semen (admittedly a 10-year old succubus, but still, look at the art)! Didn’t they agree to stop with the child porn?
While maybe not as good as the previous season, it isn’t as bad it looks thankfully.
The world god only knows S2: if you liked the first one, you will like this, at least from the first episode. I think they’re funny.
Ao no Exorcist: Ok, i didn’t watch this yet, but the manga is pretty decent, if albeit VERY typical shounen.
Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko: I love this series so far. Very strange and very funny. It reminds me a lot of arakawa under the bridge but with slightly less annoying characters.
Deadman wonderland: I liked the manga, but we will have to see how much the censoring hurts it. The manga is very violent and obviously things aren’t going to work if the screen turns black every time there is a fight.
C: well, another one i haven’t checked out yet, but it sounded potentially interesting.
Hiden no aira: pretty decent, if a bit typical.
Stein’s gate: If you liked chaos head even a little, you will like this. I liked chaos head a lot and thus like this.
Maria Holic alive: if you liked the first season it is more of the same. I find it really funny. This is the only anime in a LONG time where i watch the opening simply because the two so far have been so funny.
Black Lagoon Roberta’s blood trail ova 4/5: Yes, the former terrorist assassin turned maid is still pissed off and killing people by the truck load.

Pretty much echoes my thoughts exactly. Though the GITS TV series wasn’t too bad, so a TV version of Appleseed might be better than any of the previous lackluster movies. I also really hope they don’t do it all CG, as the last movie with it just looked weird, the framerate was just too low, which made all the animation look terrible.
The Appleseed manga was pretty big and I don’t think any of the movie adaptations have been very good because it is such a big world and story. Production IG got a lot of material out of two graphics novels with Ghost in the Shell, and I think they could do a lot with twice as much material to draw from with Appleseed. I also doubt it’ll be that terrible 3D.
Yeah, all the adaptions of Appleseed have been mediocre, while the manga is one of the best works of Shirow. Production IG needs to make a quality series like GITS SAC of Appleseed.

I’m here for Baka to Test S2 and Usagi Drop. Everything else is there to add more to the season.
And the Higurashi OVA, despite it being crap.
Otherwise, currently watching Mushi-Shi. It’s slow, always relaxed, green and is nothing short of decadent. Or sublime. Or anything that represents the greatness of something slow-paced and moving to it’s own laid back beat. Each episode is it’s own and I should have watched it ages ago. Which is like Spice and Wolf, a glorious rewatch about economics, enjoyable banter and a show that is way better than it sounds.

I still need to see Mushi-Shi, as well. Hearing that you also liked S&W is only all the more encouraging.
Next season is probably going to be a disappointment compared to this season, as I’m currently watching about 13 shows and will probably only hit 4 or 5 out of the summer. I always end up watching more than I ever expect to from those preview images.
That lineup looks pretty weak to me. I have Twelve Kingdoms to go through this summer, so it’s not all bad though.

^ There’s one or two gems but maybe it’ll surprise us. Sacred Seven ain’t no Star Driver though.
It’s been on my to-watch list for ages and it’s hardly something I can marathon, but twice a day is perfect for it.
This season surprised me and mostly keeping up with a few of them instead of stalling on them. Tiger & Bunny to combat the Madhouse/Marvel collab. and Hana-Saku Iroha, which blindsided me. Thought it would be some wussy shoujo crap but it’s so much more. Still waiting on Osamu Tezuka’s Buddha, which will finish the season with a bang, but an 8 (Think it’s 8) volume epic into one movie? If it proves it justice then it’ll be the crown of the season.
And if only 4 or 5, you must do Baka to Test! Some of the funniest stuff I’ve seen, as stupid as it can be.
Love going by the images, or choosing blindly. It’s worked for the most part so far. And what about the studio? Studio Ghibli with Kokuriko-Zaka Kara just got my attention, despite not knowing jack about it.
And R-15. That premise…
