I love the Persona 4 anime, but I loved the game and Giant Bomb Endurance Run. Anyone watching it who never played the game?

I am. While I own the game I have yet to actually play it. Just put a little time into P3:FES before growing a little frustrated with the way the game is structured, so P4 is probably never going to actually be played by me.
Experiencing it vicariously like this is perfectly acceptable in my book.
I’m watching Persona 4, and it inspired me to play it again…but holy crap the game is slower than I remembered. I thought that I can easily catch up on my game to go past the anime, but I am doubting it right now, due to lack of time. I’m impressed how the show follows the game so well. No storyline has been skipped yet.
I’m also catching Fate Zero, Maji de something or other, and Working season 2. Fate Zero is good but somehow I don’t have the urge to keep up with the latest episode. Maji de has some “omoshiroii” and cynical nationalistic shpeal that throws me off a bit, and its ending story is a mess, as in “OMG the series is finished I have to END THIS” sense, but otherwise it’s an above average harem show. Working is shockingly still funny.
I was watching Gundam AGE as well, but after a while i felt like watching a show targeted at young children and i’m not just talking about the art style, which is without a doubt targeted at young children.
I’ve been liking Guilty Crown a lot myself, even though i am The Only One on QuarterToThree That Likes Guilty Crown. The protagonist is kind of angtsy though, but i don’t think it is totally without reason. It is a bit more of a realistic reaction than in Gundam Age in my opinion. If you just give some random kid (what is basically) super powers and throw them in to hell, they likely aren’t going to react in a perfectly calm and soldier like manner, ready to fight the world as they are forced to do things which tear them apart inside.
Future diary remains good as well.
KaoFloppy: Persona 4 is HECKA long. There is no way you will be able to catch up unless you play like a madman. Although when i played i tried to get most of the extras and such so maybe if you powered through it, it would be faster.
I also like Working quite a bit. It is a really funny show. If i think about the plot, nothing has really happened at all, but still, i enjoy it. It is also the first time i heard the phrase “minicon” which amused me.

What’s funny about this is that there’s every indication that Gundam AGE is bombing very hard with young children. The demographic spreads for the ratings make it clear that young adult males make up about 90% of the audience. There’s rumors that Sunrise is completely retooling the show’s second arc to reflect this, but we’ll see if this pans out.
I haven’t dropped AGE yet, but the Fardain arc squandered a lot of my goodwill toward the show. Japanese fans compare it to the infamously dreadful Moon Moon arc of Gundam ZZ, and the comparison is completely apt. Tedious plotting, bizarre gimmick characters, and some incredibly questionable mechanical animation.
It is a bit more of a realistic reaction than in Gundam Age in my opinion.
Guilty Crown’s protagonist is very aggressively meant to be an Average Kid Just Like You. Flit Asuno is an absurd character out of the box, a fourteen-year-old who is somehow by birthright a better mechanical designer and engineer than people three times his age.
Generally everyman characters in anime are much more prone to angst than characters who are already supposed to be the best of the best. AGE does have some angsty plotlines going on, but they’re mostly focused on the carrier captain, Grodek, who seems meant as an identification point for adults.

I was hyped for Guilty Crown, watched the first episode and then felt no desire to watch any more.

I’ll admit that I’m guilty of watching Guilty Crown (sorry), but I swear to god I wanted to smack the living shit out of the protagonist in the last episode. He is so unfuckingbelievably frustrating, to the point that he actively makes me angry. When the chick in the wheelchair is looking down on you for being a giant pussy, that should really make one think about their actions and decisions.
The Fardain arc did kind of suck in AGE, granted, and the name of the leader of one of the warring factions that just HAPPENS…

Y’know, I never got over the fact that, as the commander of bootleg Zeon, his flightsuit was literally just a Gouf costume. At least the bootleg Cosmo Babylonia guy got a bootleg Crossbone Vanguard outfit.
I finished Persona 4 once before. It took me 4 months. So, it was November last month, and the TV series looks like it’ll go another 5 months, so I should be able to catch up, right? Well…the last time I played it, I had like double to triple the free time I got now. I doubt I can catch up now, but I’ll still try. I’m currently at the end of episode 4, when Yukiko just joined my party.

Mirai Nikki, haven’t caught up to episode 10 but for what it’s worth, Yuno is the most adorable girl in the show, with Yukki being a lucky bastard for having a yandere stalker. And the other diary holders are pretty good in their own right, with Twelfth leading the pack (Excluding Yuno). And still loving the original OP without the loud piano.
Tell me this ain’t cool:

Maken-Ki, still senseless, bouncy boobage with a volleyball episode to determine if the Maken-Ki group should stay in protectionist power against some foreigners and a beach episode or pool episode afterward, don’t know which. There’s a plot but it’s still unimportant.
Shouwa Monogatari- Just kidding, who subs something this niche?
Winter 2012,

If Recorder to Randoseru can be as good as Usagi Drop in warming the heart, then I’m sold. High School DxD is bound to be crap but it’s the obligatory boob fest of the season, not nearly as good as last season’s Manyuu Hiken-Chou. Always go for at least one crap ecchi anime per season to make everything else look better. Another for some reason or another, I’ll check it out. Sorry. Mouretsu Pirates; I did enjoy Captain Harlock, what few episodes I watched. Amagami SS+; it can repair the shit ending of Rihoko’s arc. Most anticipated moment for this season. Ano Natsu de Matteru because I’m a sucker for Rom/Com and if this is as good as Toradora! or Lovely Complex, then it’ll be glorious.
Rurouni Kenshin: Shin Kyoto-Hen, if it’s at least on par with Tsuiokuhen, but what in the Kenshin universe is?

And a Berserk movie, color me excited for both the Kenshin and that.
Yuno is a lot of things, but i don’t know if i would call her adorable… She looks like a cute, innocent girl the earlier you are in the series.
Pretty mediocre season, especially after this one.
Nothing really stands out as stellar but a sequel to Bakemonogatari could be quite good.
Berserk movie… I have no interest in movie adaptions of anime series generally, like the kenshin movie as far as i know. These are almost always just crappy condensed version of their full storied tv series. The berserk movie series is SUPPOSEDLY a full adaptation of the long running manga though, which i haven’t read. How they are going to decently adapt the entire manga in to a 80 minute, 100 minute and 110 minute movie i don’t know. My guess is it won’t be decent, which is the normal outcome.
It is also entirely in CG i hear… I hate CG in anime.

Adorable in a borderline-psychotic, cute-killing-face way, and you’re right: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mnzo1PkhEbE&feature=related
I will probably watch that future diary special as well (i think that is what it is). I’m not really a huge fan of specials though.
Future diary “specials” have been interesting. You have a show about brutally murdering people, a lot of them typical innocents and at the end of every episode they have a comedy segment.
Future Diary Episode 11 spoiler
Man episode 11 just had me feeling bad. I read the manga so i still remember the general story and most of the elements, but the part where they were eating Karisu’s sick son’s donuts and talking about him like he was nothing in front of his mother just had me feeling bad.
I hope Yuki doesn’t eat the donut. This is one of those scenes i don’t remember from the manga (been a little while) so i can only hope. On one hand, Karisu asked for this. He betrayed and manipulated Yuki, so it is only fair that Yuki returns the favor (not to mention it seems like their only chance to live), but the mother was really nice to them so i feel bad for her. She is also portrayed as being super innocent and nice.
I actually really liked gundam seed, even with the huge overuse of reused clips, flash backs and recaps, but i don’t know if i liked it enough to rewatch the entire extremely long series just because it is in HD now.

There are insane rumors flying about SEED HD featuring completely redrawn scenes and fairly substantial story alterations, similar to the changes introduced by the Zeta movies. I usually wouldn’t buy into this, but Sunrise has actually released lineart of a new Strike form that is set to appear in the HD remaster and will be getting its own kit and everything. I really don’t know how you get a new robot into a ten-year-old show unless you’re actually adding in new scenes.
I am not sure what the robot’s name is yet, but it’s apparently going to be based on Kunio Ookawara’s original attempt at engineering Fukuda’s request for the mid-season upgrade. The story here (likely highly embellished and possibly pure bullshit) goes that Fukuda wanted a super Strike Pack that brought together all the abilities of the original Strike Packs, but didn’t think Ookawara’s attempt at the design was actually very cool-looking.
So instead Kira upgraded to Freedom because Fukuda literally went through a pile of Gundam concepts on Ookawara’s coffee table and picked out what he thought was the coolest-looking one. The concept of an intergrated Striker pack was eventually developed into the popular IWSP in the MSV line, but I believe the Strike IWSP wasn’t designed by Ookawara. (I think it was one of the Beecraft guys instead.)
The new Strike form looks substantially different from IWSP, but does seem to combine several different Striker Pack weapons along with some new ones. It’s fueling some really wild rumors about how SEED HD is going to be changed. The most prominent of them are a) Cagalli being recast with a new voice actress and b) the ending being massively overhauled to remove Mwu’s death and change a lot of other things.
These rumors strike me as fans making things up based on actual changes made to the Zeta movies (recasting Four Murasame and altering the ending such that ZZ and CCA can’t happen), but it does indicate fairly high interest in the rebroadcast. I’ve got some bets going with friends about whether or not SEED HD can pull better ratings than AGE is at this point.

Wow, revisiting Aquarion? I’ll watch that. Otherwise, nothing in that season lineup looks at all interesting to me. I will check out the SEED remake, though, for much of the same reasons Lynxara named.

Interestingly enough, it seems like Gundam.info has released a lower-res version of the HD remaster’s first episode to YouTube ahead of the Japanese airing. It’s subbed and everything. It’s mostly identical to the first episode as it originally aired, though upscaled and with some cropping to make shots work in the new aspect ratio. SEED’s drag shots look pretty awful at higher resolutions, but that’s a problem that Gundam 00 struggled with, too. It may just be a problem with bringing mecha shows into HD.
The episode confirms some interesting things, though. Cagalli’s voice actress doesn’t seem to have been recast, but Miguel has been recast. He’s featured more extensively in the OP, which is fueling speculation that he may survive into a later point in the series or get extra scenes. The OP in general has been substantially changed, with a lot of new shots added, the infamous “space tits” sequence reanimated to make it clearer that it’s Flay, and shots of the Astray units removed and replaced with shots of Miguel’s orange GINN.

Anyone watched Dennou Coil?
I’m surprised I missed it for SO LONG. I just saw the first episode but it’s a few leagues above EVERYTHING I’ve seen in the last couple of years.
There are a ton of posts about it in this thread and it is indeed fantastic all the way to the end.
Well that’s interesting, Miguel’s death was a huge event in the show so I wonder if they’re really going to keep him alive longer or just featuring him more prominently to make his exit even more poignant.
Watching it now, actually, wow it is a bit jarring hearing Miguel’s new voice. Also, do they really need “Birdy!” subtitles every time Tori says, well, tori? Liked the new OP a lot, and I’m glad they finally gave space tits her face. Will comment more when I’m finished.
edit: Ok, doesn’t seem like much has changed except some re-framing of certain shots, and I don’t know if it was in the original but some of the shadows looked way too dark. I dunno, kind of excited to watch it again now, angst and crying and all.
