Legend of the Galactic Heroes is fantastic, truly a classic and incredibly ahead of it’s time in format for series plotting, although the animation can feel dated. There’s a remake being aired, but since it’s so long, it will be years until it’s finished, if it ever is.
BUT:
Watch some more episodes and report back, please.
They are 30 :P , but yeah, it’s too rushed.
I’ve been watching Atelier Escha & Logy. Not bad for a video game adaptation, but I wouldn’t recommend it to people who aren’t big fans.
Bandersnatch, I’d like to know what you think of PP S3 later. I skipped the 2nd season too.
Saw some specials for you guys:
Crunchyroll Premium - Free month
Funimation Now Premium - Free month
HiDive - Buy one month get one free
Remember to cancel if you don’t want to keep them.
I need to get Crunchyroll Premium for a month to watch FLCL Progressive/Alternative. I’ve just been waiting for a month I know I’ll have time to watch them.
So Netflix has Girls Und Panzer now. I know the series, Ive seen figures, art and what have you at cons and online but never knew what it was actually about. I just slotted it in with the girls as ships and girls as fighter planes and other oddness. So now ive watched the first few episodes and the little explanatory video about why schoolgirls drive tanks and even though ive watched lots of incomprehensible, crazy anime shit over the years this one is the weirdest yet. Even the premise of “tankery” itself, explained in a video being shown at their school is loaded in 70s style misogyny and utterly bizarre concepts.
but its also got some really well drawn tanks and action, with the make and variants detail being as nerdy as the most obsessive of 1/72 modellers, so here i am, watching it.
Huh. Yeah, I’ve watched a bit now. I thought it was, like, Kantai Collection. Instead, it’s…what’s a good example? Love Live but with Tanks? Food Wars but with Tanks? It’s gloriously dumb.
What it reminds me of more than anything is Keijo, Because Keijo is incredibly stupid, and also deeply, irretrievably Japanese. It also is my go-to example for how you can apply the Sports Anime formula to anything. Girls Und Panzer is pretty similar in both regards.
Re: Carole and Tuesday
Watching it now. It’s supposedly Mars but it’s totally new York. There’s recognizable streets in Chinatown and dumbo. There’s a statue of liberty (Minerva or female Mars statue), water towers.
The ai thing is just referring to autotuned and over produced music I think. It’s just the next step, have the ai make marketing and style decisions too.
I’m actually kinda annoyed how much autotune is in some of these songs but maybe it’s on purpose to show contrast between the protagonists and the other performers.
Just found out that World Trigger is getting a second season.
Now just to hope it comes to a service I actually use.
Anyone watch this movie Weathering with You? I saw it’s in the theaters here and that’s pretty rare, so is it any good? Reviews are promising.

Third. The initial 73-episode run was two seasons.
In/Spectre is looking to be one of the high points of the winter 2020 season.

Agreed, In/Spectre is really good so far.
My current short-list of other good stuff this season is ID:INVADED, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken (don’t let the cheap opening sequence fool you), Chihayafuru S3 (because Chihayafuru is always one of the best shows any time it’s on) and Somali and the Forest Spirit.
I didn’t have the chance to watch it (and it will never show on theatres here in Brazil, alas) but I think it’s fair to say that if you liked any of Makoto Shinkai’s previous movies (Your Name, The Garden of Words, etc) you’ll probably like it.
Currently simulcast on Crunchyroll - It’s Nobunaga Total Wag
It’s a silly, over the top comedy. Saw one ep. Don’t miss the live action segment after the credits.
I hope this comes out on a service I have already.
You should all be watching Keep Your Hands off Eizouken, it’s the best thing in years. Story follows the adventures of three high school girls with overactive imaginations as they start a rogue school film club with the intent to make anime. Great characters and animation, and educates on the animation process and commentates on the industry. Directed by Masaaki Yuasa of Ping Pong the Animation and Devilman Crybaby.
Even the opening is awesome
Trailer which doesn’t fully do it justice

Thanks! Anime recommendations have become really rare in this thread. (I assume because of the lack of quality animes). It’s nice to see a new recommendation.
Seconded! I do have some backlog to work through, but flagging more stuff to watch is always appreciated.
Continuing my model of “watching anime that’s free on streaming services I already own”:
I watched Cells At Work (Netflix), which I would characterize as dumb fun. The slice-of-life of cells conceit is charming and cute, the combat is fine, and the wild swings between the two keeps things moving well. If you know anything at all about human biology (e.g. like middle school Biology class level), the “I see what you did there” effect of figuring out how they translate those elements into their world give a little dopamine hit each time, which also keeps it fresher than a similar show without that theming.
I also watched RWBY* Vol 6 (free with Amazon Prime), which I think has gotten progressively worse as it’s gone on and they’ve become enamored of their own characters and world, and it’s become increasingly clear that they aren’t very good writers. I think the fight choreography was better in this one than the last volume though.
* arguably not anime

If you like Cells at Work you might like Moyashimon.

It’s amusing they didn’t bother translating Eizoken to English. I sorta get it, since calling it “Film Club” wouldn’t be 100% accurate but the title feels a bit inaccessible to me for the lay person.
