World Trigger is aimed more at kids as I remember it. I would think it would be simpler.
I really liked the first half of the first season of SAO…then they friged Asuna and the show rapidly went to hell.
I hope the third season of Log Horizon is more like the first than the second… and that the author pays his taxes. The new opening theme is certainly no database.
I’m enjoying it, but I’ve always been interested in World Building, especially in how the system works.
Its cool to see the combination of team tactics and small squad battles, even if they don’t try to delve to deeply into how sad or difficult some protagonist has it or try to make the villain also the protagonist father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate.
The animation in Jujutsu Kaisen continues to be top notch.

Worldbuilding is a awesome thing. They did some of that in World Trigger and then… kind of stop? I think they introduced other planets too fast and then stoped. But this is very subjetive.
If you enjoy it, thats great, is a nice anime with nice characters.

I too have only watched the first half of the first season of SAO, I was then told it wasn’t worth watching.
One thing grinding my gears is that the 3rd Made in Abyss movie is only available via an online cinema screening, and I didn’t even realize it had come out yet, nor do I think I would be able to get it on my TV without much annoying finagling.
So, I did what any reasonable person would do and buy all of the manga off Amazon.
I have heard the art in the books is great, so it is worth having just for that, and will keep me occupied until the third movie finally makes it to streaming sites.
Speaking of that genre (playing MMOs), I watched the first episode of an anime called Infinite Dendrogram yesterday on Hulu. It doesn’t really have the hook that the anime Bofuri: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense had. There’s no sense of trying to do something other than what the game was designed for.
On the other hand, it’s nice to watch someone play a VR MMO in which quests come about naturally, and everything isn’t regimented into routine and grind. When NPCs die, they stay dead. Players aren’t just shunted towards quests at their level but naturally find them in the game world.
I just got to the colony drop episode of Gundam ZZ.
I really don’t understand why they did it in this show if they weren’t actually going to show a realistic depiction of such an attack (one actually consistent with previous such colony drops). To have the colony mostly intact, jutting into the sky after the impact is just absurd, and it seems like they only did that because they wanted to do the next episode where people fight in and around the wreck.

ZZ is the most kid-friendly out of the UC series out there - so that’s a good a reason as any.

Oh… I forgot that Bofuri exist. Much check more episodes.
This showed up on HBO Max today. I watched the first two episodes today. I like it a lot so far.

QT3 please help me with some anime recommendations?
Here’s all the anime I’ve tried so far:
Akira (movie)
Amazing for its time and it still holds up today. Really enjoyed this despite its bizarre plot.
Attack on Titan
I really enjoyed this one. It’s my favorite anime so far. I’ve watched 3 seasons and I’m eagerly awaiting the 4th to finish airing so I can watch that too. It has some truly epic battles.
Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood
I got about 10 episodes into this before abandoning it. I like the art style but found the story and characters to be boring. Does it get better? - Is it worth persevering?
Hunter x Hunter
I just started this one - still on the first episode.
I’m interested in anime with high production values and a decent English dub. Blasphemy I know but I find watching with subtitles gets exhausting, especially over long series. I prefer sci-fi/fantasy, I’m not really a fan of horror.
Oh my word yes. I can’t remember how long it took to get its hooks in me but it was a good bit of time. Yet after I finished it I put it as one of my favorite anime.
My Hero Academia
Food Wars (ignore the first episode if the boobs bother you, they tone that down a ton)
One Punch Man
Steins; Gate
Haikyuu
Have you seen the classics? Cowboy Bebop is a must. If you like that Samurai Champloo is a good watch with a similar vibe but very different setting.
I’d recommend things but if your favorite anime is Attack on Titan, in which like 2 things happen in the first ten freaking episodes, and you thought Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood was boring, I do not think our tastes are even on the same planet.
I’m with Malkav here, if you don’t like FMA (though I prefer the original, which is slower still, it’s hard to recommend things.
Actually, you might give Fate: Zero a try. My daughter suggests Madoka Magicka
I also love Attack on Titan!
Hunter x Hunter is a good one, just be warned that it’s currently hard to get a hold of the English dub for a lot of the episodes. I was able to watch up to the Chimera Arc in English so far.
I used TurinTur’s Top 75 recommendation thread from 2017. He has a lot of great recommendations in there that I’ve seen now. Some are harder to get into than others. And my main complaint with his list is that he lists a lot of things that aren’t finished yet. And who knows, maybe they never will be finished. For example, if you like Sports stories, let’s say shows like Friday Night Lights and movies like Remember the Titans, things like that, then I think you’ll love Haiyakuu, the volleyball anime on his list. BUT, even though his list is from 2017, the anime just released a new season in 2020, and it’s still not finished. I think there’s still one more season to go, if it gets made. Plus I’m like you, I prefer to have a good Dub, so waiting for the dub takes even longer.
Oh, and I think my personal favorite anime is probably Erased. It’s a short one season story involving time travel and a serial killer. The anime supposedly has a poor ending, but I wouldn’t know. There comes a point in the story where the story clearly ends at the end of one episode, and it’s a perfect ending. But then, there’s still 2 or 3 episodes after that, but why would I watch those?

Thanks for the recommendations!
I’m not sure why I prefer Attack on Titan to Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.
I find the animation quality to be superior. I enjoy the slow pace of the mystery unfolding slowly. Most of all I think it’s the atmosphere. AOT is serious, gritty, perhaps even harrowing in some places. It reminds me of war movies like Saving Private Ryan and Blackhawk Down. FMAB on the other hand is just… wacky. I will persevere with it though as @arrendek recommended. I do find that some shows take a while before they can grab me so I’ll give it another 10 episodes to convince me.
This is a great resource - thanks! :)
If you give FMA time, I think it’s just as serious as AoT. I don’t remember in FMAB when they start talking about why Alphonse is the way he is, but as you start to get into that backstory you get more of that feeling of gravity/seriousness.
I’m maybe weird, so I highly preferred the original FMA to brotherhood, but both were good.
