Your Lie in April: I finished it. It was what I expected. I was watching for the music, and final piece was really subtle and well done, not over the top like previous performances. Overall I would recommend the series. It is sad, but it’s also hopeful and embraces a love of music. Also, in the era of stories that never end, it’s nice to see an anime story that actually ends!
Now I need to get back to HunterxHunter. Unfortunately the Chimera Ant arc is not something I can watch in front of my kid, since each episode is full of really disturbing images, so I have to find other unconventional times to watch that series.

I hope you enjoy the Chimera Ant arc. It has a bit for everyone, I believe.

Not me. I dropped the show because of that arc.
But I heard it’s the best arc of the show!
I…haven’t gotten around to watching it yet, even though it’s now finally available.

(not spoiler, I think)
I think is good fun. With many circles over cicles on the story that the
authors use to talk about different things. Is not high literature, or anything, or even the best story on anime, but I think the fame It have is well deserved for a cool arc in a cool anime.

Weak people will be culled by HxH chimera ant arc!

Meh, maybe. I just think the show took such a tonal shift from prior arcs that I no longer enjoyed it at all. Compare that arc to the first arc of the show and it’s a totally different thing altogether.
HxH is really like 4 different shows with the same cast. It’s kinda insane it exists at all.

I don’t think theres anything for me on current shows, so I rewatched Crest of Stars. I enjoyed the music, fights and characters dynamics.
World Trigger is coming back. Nice.

Yeah, so sometimes anime shows are like, hey, I know this is a show about karate championship fighting, but we’re going to do 6 episodes on this Hawaiian vacation.
So when HxH first changed focus I thought it was that. And then it changed again. And again. And again. And then it was a show about genetically engineered monsters and gore and I didn’t even recognize it, and I lost all interest.

Yes, I’m having trouble for the same reason. At this early point in the Chimera Arc I’m just forcing myself to keep watching because I’m hoping that watching Gon deal with this stuff with the help of his friends will once again make it feel like Hunter x Hunter.
I put the Chimera Arc on hold again, because HBO Max got more episodes of “To Your Eternity” without notifying me. I watched Episodes 7, 8, 9 last couple of days. It’s a really interesting show because it keeps introducing new characters with new lives before leaving them behind. I really am starting to dig that aspect of it.
Sonny boy finished, and while some of the last episodes were good, seeing the series as a whole, it gets close to be really good, but it doesn’t get it there. It’s fulfilling more on the intellectual side, from the visual imagery to the themes, but it lacks somewhat in the emotional part. Few character relationships are established, and few emotional climaxes exist, with the whole series using an understated style.

Hyouka. ZzzzZzzzZzz. Dropped.
Awww! That’s a shame, I absolutely loved this, or at least the first 11 episodes. I enjoyed the gentle pace, the gorgeous animation, interesting characters and quirky humor. I really enjoyed visiting Japan IRL, and in my opinion this captured the atmosphere of a smaller Japanese town, something like Takayama, perfectly. I think it starts to go off the rails about episode 12 (where they hold the School cultural festival) - they lost all the CGI elements, the background music becomes irrelevant to the story beats, and the humor becomes more rote. Perhaps they had to reduce costs.
I was wrong, it gets good again. I thoroughly enjoyed this.
For anyone who is interested, this YouTube series https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdXcEDO2xtB-pjqwTiPmWn1wxKmYZqjN8 steps through the cinematography and themes of various episodes and story arcs of Hyouka. I enjoyed seeing why I enjoyed so much of this anime.
The fall 2021 list is so long, even reading one sentence description of each one is taking me forever.
So far, I’m very intrigued by the description of Blue Period.
A bored high school student falls in love with art and finds a new purpose in life.
And since I love music, the description for Takt Op Destiny sounds interesting to me.
In this anime, a conductor and anime girls battle monsters with the power of music.
Some interesting stuff in there. I’m more impatient than ever for Funimation and Crunchyroll to merge at this point, though!
Right now I’m trying to get through to the end of Naruto Shippuden. I’m getting a little annoyed by how much time they spend in episodes basically recapping stuff that had happened before. It feels like sometimes it’s as bad a 25% new action and 75% flashback to previous episodes to re-explain the entire history of the relationship of certain characters. This probably made a lot more sense during the original broadcast when they are referencing stuff that happened hundreds of episodes ago, but for me that was last week!
I’m also starting to suspect that building your society around training children from birth to be ninjas so they can start working as professional mercenaries by age 12 may not be the best basis for a community…
