“Can I be brother today and you be sister?”

One of the creepiest arcs and definitely divergent from the overall tone of the series, and maybe that’s why I liked it best. It was different. It was disturbing and was not BL as we knew it.

That said, I’ll take Revy and Dutch on the neo-nazi ship tearing shit up any day of the week over that arc. That was just pure awesome popcorn entertainment.

On the subject of Roberta, she’s nothing compared to the guy who can cut flying bullets in half with his sword. In comparison to him, Roberta was tame.

Slayers was more consistent than Black Lagoon? Slayers pulled the Giga Slave out of thin air to end its first major plot arc, and I seem to remember it repeated similar deus ex machinae throughout the first two seasons.

I liked the Twins and Japan arcs as an example of elite mooks (Balalaika and the Desatniki) outsmarting level-10 characters. Or, to put it another way, Balalaika is as high-level as the twins and samurai boy – it’s just that she dumped her points into henchmen, Cinematic Tactics, etc – and that worked equally well.

I just watched the awesomest thing ever: Moyashimon.

Series of summer 2009 at a glance.

Farming anime is awesome too.

God, for the most part that looks horrible. I’m intrigued by the earthquake series though.

Anime News Network’s capsule summary clears it right up:

Well, we’ve all been there, right?

And Spice and Wolf 2!

Am I seriously seeing more Weiss Kreuz on that summer 2009 run down? Seriously?

Ah yes but I already knew the release date for that long ago and have been drooling in anticipication. S&W II is almost as awesome as finding out they’d be doing a second season of Claymore.

Note: they’re not, I wasn’t trying to insinuate that. Even though the manga goes further than the anime series. So disappointing.

No. You’re seeing Weiss Schwarz, which as described in the rundown, is a card game that takes place in another dimension. Inter-dimensional M:TG! Sweet. Yeah.

Oh, good. The idea of Weiss Kreuz coming back would actually be more laughable than another ridiculous CCG-based show.

Spice and Wolf II: Episode 0 is pretty much fluff, but it did whet my appetite for the second season proper! I just got around to watching episode 1 of Guin Saga, and it was pretty good – downloading ep 2 as we speak. I looked for Michiko to Hatchin after it was likened to Bebop upthread and I’m surprised there’s been so little fansubber take-up of the series.

I saw ep0 subbed by someone, is that the same as the DVD OVA they put out a while back? With the 3 of them sitting around a table and Horo gets a fever? I was wondering if it was the same or not so I didn’t download it.

And much lulz at the first fight of Guin vs. Knights in ep1. I love it when he does a downward punch on the first guy’s head and buries him in the ground up to his neck.

I recall a while back that some people were raving about Twelve Kingdoms. Next month a box set containing the entire series is set to be released. Link!

Yeah, that’s the episode.

I admit, I spent half of that scene smirking at Guin’s character design and the other half thinking, “Ayla, watch out!” Episode 2 was also pretty good, and I like the opening music. Now, to look for ep 3!

I’m up to ep10 already. Grab the AniYoshi subs, then grab the [frong] subs at the first ep he starts releasing them. They’re both excellent although I prefer [frong]'s stuff because of the occasional, and funny, subber commentary.

edit: Oh, and in case you’re having trouble finding them and aren’t aware of this site:

Animesuki still has it listed, but thanks for the link anyway! Just watched 3 and DLing 4 now. There’ll be a few AoShen ones after 4, then I think Frong picks up at 7. Did you also get a JRPG vibe from 3 when he [spoilered] the environment?

Darker Than Black

Cool characters…not my cup of tea story wise.

Eden of the East just keeps getting better.

Episodes 9 and 10 are masterpieces and the plot moves at an unrelenting pace. They could teach a lesson or two to all Lost’s writers.

Oh, and I know it’s naughty, but Thora released the first Evangelion movie in high quality, and that’s something to be seen (and also KemekoDX).

Episode 10 confirmed what I had pretty much figured all along about Juiz, and the addition of the 3 Selecao to the story is pretty awesome. So, we’ve gotten down to only 4 unknown Selecao now and 1 that may very well be The Supporter. Episode 9 was pretty good but 10 was spectacular. One more episode to go, then we have to wait for the movie.
