Ah. Hopefully that means EA will give it for free to everyone who played it during launch month, or it will show up as a freeby on EGS.
It had some nice concepts but the execution was … well. Would be nice if they make it a good game, but if they still believe in Bioware Magic™ then I think I’ll hold out for some reviews.
Even Blizzard messed up on diablo 3 at launch… (course, them fixing it with loot 2.0 was ignored wholesale by the Anthem team in their little bubble… so who knows.).
Still hoping for a nice ‘tower defence’ fight in the outpost against the monster onslaught, like in the videos.
I bought it for 6 bucks recently. Keep an eye out for sales.

Well, I think I did like 50-100 hours the first month when I had a free EA Subscriberwhatchamecallit, so didn’t really pay anything for it.
Probably a big mistake from EA to add it to that subscription thing as they could’ve done a cash grab for 40-50 bucks instead. Most people wouldn’t realize what the game lacked until way after the 2 hour cancel window?
Anyhoo, 6$ is doable.I’ll keep a watch. Wonder if IsthereanyDeal has email warnings.
Yeah, I had it through EA access as well, which is why I wanted to grab a copy on the cheap.
It’s on sale through Origin right now for 9 bucks I believe.

EA’s other Really Bad Idea (and Equally Doomed) Like Anthem called Rocket Arena is free to claim if you have Twitch Prime.
I feel exactly the opposite - I love the execution, they nailed the feel of climbing into a huge powered armor suit and flying, jumping, shooting and punching your way through a ton of enemies. Everything has weight and mass and it’s satisfying to fly around the world. There’s just not much going on in that world, not a lot of reason to hang out long term. I’d love if this phase two whatever gives me more reasons though.

I had a great time with it also but I got the game for free with a video card purchase so I never had buyer’s remorse.

This is me as well - Its was an extremely well done game, with some deep seated flaws and not much going on. Man I loved the big mech…!

By Execution I mean making a game out of it. The concepts would be various gameplay elements, like the flying, shooting, etc.
The whole package was shit, interrupted by some good parts (but not enough, as you got into the game).
And like in Division, bullet sponges suck.

The main mechanics of flying around and fighting were every well done.
Everything else that surrounded that… Like, why you were flying around and fighting… Was very poorly considered.
So after you played the game for a fairly short while, you were left with the question of, “why an I doing this?” Which killed the long term value of the game.
I don’t know. I just finished the story content in the last few days. It was fine. The main story had decent characters with decent motivations- Not Bioware-level, but certainly much better than either Destiny game. Your own motivation was pretty generic, but stayed pretty consistent throughout. The biggest problem I had with the story was really one of the same problems as I did with Destiny 2- the main story is meant to be played multiplayer, but you’re singled out as being the one best badass around. At least there wasn’t a prophecy about you or anything. I also did like the crazy worldbuilding and setting.
Gameplay-wise, it’s a lot of fun to fly around and blast things. There seemingly weren’t very many types of weapons (or Gear) though, and different ‘builds’ weren’t really a thing until it was all over. I got a couple Legendary guns and gear right before the last few missions, and their special powers and whatnot changed things up significantly, and also made me push the difficulty up to ‘Hard’.
I do still have the Legendary Contracts for all three factions, so I’ll probably do those. But grinding out levels and power doesn’t interest me much.
I thought the story was one of the worst things about the game. Owen’s betrayal was utterly unmotivated and ridiculous, “The Monitor” is a complete non-entity as an antagonist, and almost every other character is bland and uninteresting. Remember the princess lady you go and visit in that one mission, and then is never seen or heard from again? What was that all about?
The only thing this game nailed, in my opinion, is the feel of the traversal in your javelin. Flying and sprinting around in a javelin feels good and weighty, without feeling sluggish. Quite literally everything else is varying degrees of mediocre.

Hope they can pull of a resurrection. I found there was a lot to like in actually piloting a javelin around and killing baddies but it really fell short pretty much everywhere else for me.

Jesus - thats basically a complete reimagining of the javelins, items, and abilities and how they operate? Thats a rather big change - interesting.
Huh. Making builds could be fun.

I have not read the post, but the images looks like somebody is prototyping destiny/avenger.
Well, Anthem did do Iron Man better than The Avengers did.
