Games a failure already. Time to move on. I like the game enough, but it doesnt feel finished. Sadly, I want Bioware to succeed, but then again they are now a remnant of a bygone era. People don’t want a game like this. I don’t see how this can really do well when smaller games on phone make 100x more. Should have just made a low budget rpg… whatever low budget is now I dont know… what 50 ppl 30 million dollars…love it.

I got loot in every tomb.

Eh? Anticipation for the game was very high, and the other main looter shooters, Warframe and Destiny, do pretty well.

It sounds like the game just isn’t up to scratch, at least not on release. People like these kinds of games well enough, they just expect a higher level of finish and polish for an expensive game (again, compare and contrast with Warframe, completely free to play - if I had to pay for a game like Anthem, I’d expect something quite a bit better than Warframe, but this doesn’t seem to be it).

There are fundamental problems such as lack of loot that the majority of player base (not all as some people here in this thread expressed) expect as a baseline in a looter shooter that can’t easily just be patched in/out.

Its an ok game, but Anthem just doesn’t feel like the game they wanted to make. All the dialogue tells me this was supposed to be a ME/DA game, but they shoehorned a Destiny game out of it. Its kind of depressing because the art and combat and the feel of the game is really good… the 4 different class armors are awesome!, but the whole game feels just like Destiny… not complete. At least Destiny had the multiplayer vs mode…but even that was kind of shitty in Destiny.

Also I don’t think the anticipation was as high as people make it out to be… anecdotally most of the people I know who game really weren’t interested in it, plus they’re too busy with Apex and Fortnite.

It seems to me a good thing for people like myself, that vastly prefer single player experiences and big, meaty RPGs, when guys like Bethesda and Bioware try “something new” and work up what is clearly a GaaS experience that just doesn’t work for them, because I hope they will go back to what people actually want to buy from them. Fingers crossed.

Anthem is really, really pretty though. Hopefully this bodes well for the next Dragon Age game! :)

Yeah, I’m afraid that Bioware really died years ago, and we’re only now smelling the rotting remains. I mean, I dunno. Maybe they have great games still left in them. Maybe this is just more of EA’s terrible handling of GaaS, something that they fumbled badly in killing another beloved franchise/studio marque with SimCity and Maxis.

I guess the hope is that the barrels of money Apex Legends is making will provide either some breathing room for Bioware, or a soft landing spot for people who work there.

Man this UI is fucking STUPIDO when you have more than one person in fireteam… Impossible to tell who has what unlocked.

And all the loading screens in Warframe, for a full day session, are – combined – still shorter than one loading screen in Anthem.

The start of that Angry Joe review was a masterpiece. And the full review was pretty much spot on. So much jank.

Hoping that itemization stats gets a little love soon, items have way too many useless stats on them. And since you can not reroll items and crafting a “replacement” item is very very expensive.

The challenge rewards are ridiculous and the rewards have no relation to the time/effort taken to complete them.

Saw that some of them items I have, after recent patches, now show “0%” as the buff. Which is probably what they’ve had all along as I haven’t noticed any damage increase for some of them, i.e. Elemental damage increased by 5% per “tick”, going to 20… I did the same damage at 0 as I did when it was supposedly at 200%.

Oh well. I guess it will be release state worthy in 6 months if Bioware exists then.

I have very little hope for the next Dragon Age, based solely on the last Dragon Age.

Just did a GM2.

“Greater chance of Masterwork and Legendary loot”…

Legendary is the only loot type that would upgrade my current character, or maybe working/non-idiotic roll Masterworks would as well.

Complete waste of time when it takes 2x as long as GM1 and the rewards were pretty much worse than anything I’ve gotten in a GM1 run. At least they now recommend 475+ gearscore for it.

Did another where we fought a tank for 20 minutes…
1 Blue, 1 purple as loot reward.

Apparently, there was another nerf to loot drops in Biowares “Loot Shooter” that further reduced drop rate on the mostly useless drops. Feels like they do not understand the ‘genre’, maybe they should stick to romance options in scifi rpgs.

Oh well.

Or, more likely, we’ll get Anthem Legends (1:38).

Seems more likely they shutter the studio and put some mobile developer on the next GaaS.

Joe needed the 50 minute review because 1/3 of it was loading screens. D:

I don’t know, I’m not really getting a sense that mobile games are doing great any longer either, though. No one seems to be talking about anything except Apex Legends and …Fortnite(? no one is really talking about this either, has this already waned?) at any rate. I’m sure there are still your Candy Crush Saga’s out there, but for whatever reason those seem a lot fewer and farther between lately, which I’m happy with. Could it be that casuals are realizing mobile game’s using that tried and true model are just not fun, at last?

No, they’re just playing Candy Crush Saga and Fortnite and Clash Royale.

On the bright side, I’m sure we can expect DE to introduce materials switching into Warframe in the not-too-distant future :)

Games like this live and die by the excitement of the loot system. I had zero confidence before this was released, that the loot would be interesting. It’s probably biowares most long standing shortcoming, they absolutely suck at loot. They have never understood it, so making a game based around it was always going to be a problem.

They should really have a good SSD in the recommended system reqs.

Given how common this complaint seems now, can you expand on exactly what is going with the loot?

I’ve played this for a day now, and haven’t even got to the higher loot tiers, but even at low tiers the differentiation between loot is significant in terms of what it can do… Most of this seems focused on the components, which have major effects on your abilities.

What am i missing, that is making anthem’s loot “bad” compared to a game like destiny?
