That plot line was a lot of fun.
I was at the 40 hour mark before I finished the “critical path,” aka, the story. Spent a ton of time exploring Tarsis, getting involved in the little dramas, completing random contracts (before I knew they were random contracts) and working my way down the different faction paths.
I think that pace really benefited my experience of the game, as I’m just now getting to the gear grind.
Ooooooooh! Thank you for the correction.
In retrospect it makes perfect sense. I wondered why April appeared to have that same event over and over.
I’m a derp.
@Scott_Dobros exactly the same for me. I was just passed 40 I think.
As I was driving home a bit ago, I was thinking about how fun that legendary contract was this morning. @Oscuros and I have done a whole lot of co-op over the years in different games. I can’t think of anything we have ever played that was more fun than that mission was without invoking the name City of Heroes.
Well, I took an update earlier this evening and since then I haven’t been able to get into the game - just a generic ‘connection problems’ error. Guess it’s my turn in the barrel.

There was some period of about three hours yesterday where I just had a cascade of various connection errors (connection problems, error contacting server, error updating pilot data, etc). Other people were playing fine at the time, so it feels like when this game gets into a snit for an individual it really goes south in a bad way.
I’m not going to excuse Bioware for shipping a game that was this broken (bugs, etc.) with limited endgame content, but I have to say, I really don’t care about the lack of strongholds or raids or whatever just yet.
I’ve settled into a nice little game loop that consists of running the three legendary contracts at GM1 then doing 2 or 3 GM1 strongholds. And then messing with builds, managing inventory, and gearing up my other javelins by doing random contracts or teaming up with someone on my friend’s list.
Sound bug kills though. Hit me again last night as soon as loaded into my first mission.

Has anyone else queued for a stronghold and got matched into one in progress? I had two dailies yesterday for doing Tyrant Mine and a stronghold, so I decided to queue for it and was surprised to join in at the end of the step just before the boss fight. I would expect that in quickplay (which I believe is currently disabled for strongholds), but not for normal queuing.
I had this happen to me yesterday as well. But I was plugged into a broken stronghold in progress. Happened twice. Mission wouldn’t progress.
From what I understand, that’s a Frostbyte bug. Some people say that turning down your default sound sampling rate in windows can help.

Ya, I totally did, the first time I played the Scar Temple… it was kind of dumb, because it meant I missed the entire thing except the boss fight. At first, I was like, “Wait, is this whole stronghold just a single boss fight?”
I went through it again though later, and that stronghold is actually very well done.
It’s funny though, as a bunch of the early reviewers had said crap like, “There’s no reason to do this one, because it’s so much more optimal to just do the Tyrant Mine.”
Jesus christ, people… The reason to play the game isn’t to just grind loot in a temporally optimal fashion. The Scar Temple is a cool level.
I did the tyrant mine once during demo. Haven’t touched the others yet. Looking forward to it, though.

One thing that I didn’t expect, was that after I beat the “main story”, I continued to get a lot of other quests from the NPCs, separate from the contracts.
Each faction has storyline quests separate from the main story. No reviewer seems to mention this, lol, but they are very cool. I can see Bioware doing more quest chains like this in the future with additional factions.

Ya, they’re actually interesting, coherent quest lines, which is much more than I expected.

This is honestly a good game. It’s a good game marred by serious technical issues and should be another point of data to never believe the “The beta/demo is months old, the release will be good!”. Unless EA lacks patience – which they very well might – I think this game will have legs. Looking forward to where they go with it a if given the chance.

In fairness though, the technical issues at this point are nowhere near what they were in the first demo week.
I have encountered very few technical bugs in the final release on the PS4. The only real technical issue, which is certainly better than it was, is the loading times.
This is going to come across snarkier than I intend but your comment reminded me of a great post I saw on Reddit regarding Anthem just prior to launch (actually can apply to any GaaS with poor initial reception).
- it’s just alpha, all those issues will be fixed in the beta. This is the perfect game. Pre-order now. Look at Destiny and The Division.
- It’s just beta, all those issues will be fixed in the gold build. This is the perfect game. Don’t cancel pre-order. Look at Destiny and The Division.
- It’s just early access, all those issues will be fixed in the day one patch. This is the perfect game. Don’t refund. Look at Destiny and The Division.
- It’s just launch, all those issues will be fixed in the in an upcoming patch. This is the perfect game. Don’t believe those reviews (aka don’t sell your copy). Look at Destiny and The Division.
- It’s just 3 months from launch, all those issues will be fixed in once the DLCs come. This is the perfect game. Buy the DLCs. Look at Destiny and The Division.
- It’s just Bioware’s first shot at looting games, all those issues will be fixed in upcoming sequel. That will the perfect game. Pre-order Anthem 2 now. Look at Destiny 2 and The Division 2.
That also seems to be very user specific with no real reason why. I get very few bugs in game but I get disconnects constantly. In fact I haven’t had a single session since launch that wasn’t interrupted by multiple disconnect errors.

Yeah, it’s super weird, since we’re all using the same hardware. I gotta suspect it has something to do with different servers or something.
