Any chance that bf1942 will support voice?

I love this game, but the only thing that sucks is that you can’t really communicate adequately with your teammates. Even typed messages get lost , as the words are one jumbled mess. So are the developers going to implement voice communication in the near future? Since the expansion pack will hit retail soon, I was hoping that we might see some support for voice. If CS can have voice, why can’t bf1942?

And can’t you use software such as roger wilco, even though a game doesn’t support voice? Will I be able to download roger and then hit a bf1942 server and chat away with my teammates?

thxs all.

Check out TeamSpeak:

I haven’t used it, but on the Wolf servers I sometimes play the admins use it.

hehe, who wants to actually know who the other people are they are playing with?

The last thing I want to find out is that the guy who just fragged me, for the 15th time, is some pre-pubescent punk. It’s bad enough on Xbox live.

Just read aloud Tom Chick’s Unreal Tournament 2003 review in CGM and that’s basically what you’ll get with real-time voice with strangers.

BITCH! OWNAGE! MONSTER KILL!

I use Teamspeak with clanmates, but it is a problem if one of us has to change teams to keep things balanced. If you have a second channel going, I think there is a hotkey to switch, but otherwise you all stay in the same channel regardless of team. Despite that, it really does help a lot to coordinate an attack or defense on a particular flag. Air strikes are downright cool to call in, and it makes the pilot’s job a lot easier to have precise target information before starting a bombing run.

I play a lot of DoD, and never have found the voicecomm to be a problem. In fact, the hardest thing is to get people to use it. A simple “nade nade nade!” as you are running away sure would help out. Restricting voicecomm to your own team probably eliminates all of the 0wnage talk.
