Or paid DLC?
Honestly it probably won’t happen.
Y’know, I’m starting to think the game might not be that well received if they don’t add anything new to the game, despite the fancy new graphics.
Demon’s Souls has what, maybe a quarter of the items in Dark Souls 3, no covenants, only two schools of magic, shorter levels, practically no optional areas to speak of and only the most basic “Souls” multiplayer (no matchmaking, voluntary PvP, etc).
Granted, a lot of that is just feature creep, but still, much has been added to the formula since then. I mean, Demon’s Souls is a game that has defined a decade of gaming, but they’re not selling it as just a nice remake for the fans, no, it’s a PS5 launch title with the new higher full price tag for a game. Better make that ray tracing extra shiny, eh?
I think the biggest question is will they alter the heal system? I’d also like to see Bluepoint get a chance to strut their creative side and fill out the sixth archstone.

The healing system is close enough to Bloodborne that they might just leave it. Good question though.
Yeah, there’s also a few design choices that have changed since then. I don’t remember the grasses being that much of an issue, IMO. Bloodborne also had consumable health items. Granted, there was only the one and it auto-restocked.
There’s also according to Vaatividya that rolling is only in 4 directions. Plus, there’s a completely useless limit on items carried, not just equipped.
There’s more detail about the Deluxe edition, that includes new items not in the original:
Does that mean there will be more new content?
In the Shadow of the Colossus remake, basically all of the new content was preorder items, some of which were never released otherwise. That was a dick move by Blueploint. If you want me to pay to play the game again, why the heck are you locking away the little bit that would be new to me? I hope they’re not doing that again!

digital deluxe editions are never as exciting as real world deluxe editions. I still have my original Demons Souls deluxe edition with small artbook, music cd and player guide in a neat box.
edit: hm, there is no retail version, yet.
Ah, man, that was one flimsy carboard box.
I love the complete player guide included with it though. So useful for planning out your build! I felt like being back to the era of thick gaming manuals.
I think maybe they didn’t have high hopes for the game at the time, so that’s why they included the full game for stupid gamers who wouldn’t “get it” otherwise.
That was another era for Souls games! Now it’s every Youtuber and wikiperson’s job to make weapon-by-weapon video analysis and detailed lore videos.

also, no word about world tendency. Isn’t this out in 5 weeks? Should already be finalized, let the world know …
Too lazy to find the source but BP did confirm a while back that none of the deluxe items are exclusive to that version. They just give you a way to either start with them or obtain them very early. I’m a big From fan and I’ll grab this as soon as I have a PS5 but I don’t see any reason to buy deluxe (I guess maybe the soundtrack).

I still have mine as well. That was a great little deluxe pack! I totally plan to pick this up, but I don’t see a reason to get a PS5 yet. Hopefully if they offer a similar physical deluxe pack as the original, I can still get it later.
This is how the remake is looking:
Man, the shield doing a LOT of the work there. It’s so jarring coming from playing Bloodborne where there’s no shield.
Also, I love the look of having no HUD. I wonder if they’ll make that an option within the game or if it’s a developer only toggle so they can make trailers.
Edit: Also hearing that Demon’s Souls theme at the end sent chills. I’m really looking forward to playing this down the road.

You can turn off your hud in Bloodborne, and I think in DS3. Can’t remember if it’s in the other ones.
running by the crystal beetle tilts me. Also never even considered fighting the hall spider other than at range, which makes him a cakewalk.
I dunno, I played the game sooo much already, but it looks so pretty.
One thing I noticed is they removed all the dragon bones along the edges of the Flamelurker arena. You could get the boss stuck in there. I suspect other changes as well. The healing system, crafting system, and magic system to name a few. The latter being too powerful compared to all the souls games.
Also wondering if they are going to change the Swamp of Defilement at all. It’s like the Blight Town swamp x 10.

I hope not! Make it murkier hopefully. :) One of my favourite level maps ever is from 5-2.

Yup, that’s pretty much how I remember it.
It’s been more than ten years, but I remember every area very well. Huh, nothing is going to be much of a surprise.

Ehh, sounds like basically nothing is changed from the original, maybe the drop rates for the stupid pure Bladestone will be a little better. No DLC archstone confirmed. World tendency is mostly unchanged. Some items will remain pre-order only forever. They re-recorded the voices?
Fractured is pretty much just Mirror mode, looks like. The same thing was done in SotC remake. It’s… not interesting.
On the plus side, they’re going to use the new haptic feedback everyone is so excited about. Weapons also have new animations, but the gameplay effect will technically be the same.
Really? I’ve never heard of a mirror mode outside of racing games. I always wondered why racing games stopped using it. It’s such a cheap easy way to add track variety to the game.
But yeah, I can’t picture how it would help add variety to a Souls game.

He doesn’t quite say that, and dimes to dollars they’ll be available in the GotY edition next year.
