Stay in soul form until you get right in front of his gate, then if you want help, use a eye stone, and grab a blue or two from there. Usually people don’t mess with you on 2-2 too much because the damn caves take forever to find each other in…

And yes, if you were invaded, then you were in body form.

I have a question too… Anyone have a really good way of dealing with plague babies?!? Gah! Another run through to do the all white stuff I guess =( I killed the demon, then fell off the ledge by accident, adn there goes pure white =(

I hate to be “that guy”, but considering this thread persuaded me to get this game, can anyone point me to a helpful class guide that I can read at work while waiting for it to arrive?

NP, I’d hate to be the guy to have to go through this whole thread to find that =)

Everything you need to know is in here: http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/

As for classes, all the classes really do is set your starting gear, and point you in a direction. You can turn your character into whatever you want them to be after you get to leveling up your souls.

If you are completely new to the game, a lot of people recommend starting with the royal. You get a couple of nice pieces of gear as a royal that you normally don’t find until later, One being a ring that regenerates MP, and the other being a piece of armor that gives you more magic. You also start with a nice range spell.

The wiki site also has a stat planner spreadsheet which is nice, and explains some of the more confusing concepts of the game, Mainly what white and black tendency means, and how to get going in multi-player. Hope this helps!

I make a habit of going to the nexus and jumping off a ledge to kill myself after a boss battle…I probably forgot to do my 10 pt. double flip, 720 twist dive and got invaded. :-)

Awesome link Fozzle…thanks!

Excellent resource. You’ve given me something to do in the down moments at work.

I definately recomend looking at the weapon upgrade paths closely from the Wiki. The resources are pretty constrained so you really don’t want to shoot yourself in the foot by upgrading things that aren’t that useful. (stupid +4 dark silver shield)

Lizard_King, I now have a Moon Winged Spear +5. My first Pure Moonlightstone finally dropped in NG+++. My stats are now STR 24 (E), DEX 52 (E), MAG 99 ©. In inventory the spear damage is listed as
Physical 128+20 = 148
Magic 143+100 = 243
Total 391

I tested the spear on a pickaxe miner in the beginning of 2-2 in NG+++. A normal soul form attack did 317 damage.

For a high magic character I think the Crescent weapons do more damage than the Moon weapons as Magic damage bonus class is A for Crescent and only C for Moon weapons.

It seems what prevented me from casting Soul Thirst was using Second Chance. Using it seems to disallow casting some other spells also, Warding for example.

I don’t know of any such thing. The loot is worth it, but some of the best pieces can be obtained simply by dropping down, sprinting to the ledges, then reloading your save so you are back up at the entrance.

I killed them all for the hell of it, but via Clever Rat and arrows. I suppose I could have lured them and used rage of god or fire, but that’s what I had on hand. Their drops are ok, but nothing that is worth the pain in the ass (ephemeral eyes iirc).

I’ll check it out, but I can’t find a pure Darkmoon to save my life (otoh, pure moonstone was in original game, so go figure).

I got 2 pure darkmoons from 4-3 geckos in PURE BLACK TENDENCY NG+. Each gecko had 1 each.

I cleared all the storm beasts. Shot one of the geckos to death with bow then bum rushed the other. Sort of a pain in the ass but now I got 2 +5 Crescent weapons.

I’m building up to that storm demon in NG+. Unfortunately, I lost my full black tendency in that level thanks to forgetting to disconnect from the internet, so that set me back a bit. Soon, though, I will kill them.

Maneater was really easy this time around. Spamming God’s Wrath from behind the central brazier felled him on the first try.

Old Monk (offline) is now giving me trouble for the first time (NG+++). Three times before I just jumped around and cast Soul Ray FTW. Now it’s taking so long to nibble him down I inevitably slip up and die. I guess I’ll see what I can accomplish with Meat Cleaver or Dragon Bone Smasher. A spear and shield seemed to work but did too little damage.

Taking him on repeatedly led to an interesting episode. I was running all over the place without locking on to him. I stopped to heal in one end of the room while he was futzing around in the middle. I was standing still and he was approaching. Suddenly he turned around, wandered in random directions a bit and then stopped in the middle of the room.

I tried to sneak behind him to get a backstab off but he noticed me from a middle distance. I had the Thief’s Ring on. I wonder whether it’s possible to completely lose him with the Graverobber’s Ring on? Then you could maybe Poison Cloud him to death without working up a sweat.

I’d be glad to give you one if I could. I think I got two left. I was thinking of maybe creating two +5 Crescent Uchigatanas for the ultimate flurry of whirling death.

As you most probably know well by now, it’s all just luck, unfortunately. By NG+++ I have gotten three Pure Darkmoonstones but a Pure Moonlightstone only just dropped. I had to kill a black skeleton 350 times to get a Pure Bladestone.

I wish the game didn’t make these three drops dependent on luck alone. It would be better if there was some (even a very difficult) sure way to get them like with all the other stones. At the least they shouldn’t have made trophies based on luck dependent drops. What’s the point with that? You got lucky, yay for you? Skill based trophies make more sense to me.

I guess it can be argued that they resemble the epic instance drops in MMORPGs. If you want them, grind away (or be very lucky).

A system I think would have been nice is a way to turn in shards to make chunks and chunks to make pures, albeit at a very bad rate (at least 10 to 1, possibly more). Then they could give you some relatively frequent drops that might take a while to farm but wouldn’t be as bad as the shitty luck-based grind they have on for bladestones or the chance of simply not getting Moonstone or Darkmoonstone even once in a play-through.

Also, I would have liked more NG+ only upgrades.

That would be much better, yeah.

Why? Isn’t there already plenty to do for at least two run-throughs what with the world and character tendencies and all?

No. There are a lot of irritatingly grindy things left around for NG+, like making 400 attempts for a single stone, but that’s not what I’m looking for. Nor do I think having multipurpose souls past 2 is all that great, although it’s better than the grinding. And fuck colorless soul gathering, that just taps into the most annoying elements all at once (I hate playing offline). I just wish there was more like North Regalia, except in a form that I actually wanted to use.

Ok, I get it now. Yeah, it would be nice if there were more incentives like that for NG+ play. Multipurpose use would have been better limited to max three per soul, four is too much. Two would be even better. Why insist on four playthroughs with the same… Hey, actually, wait a minute here!

Why did I automatically assume I had to complete all trophies with one character? It would have been more fun and not so repetitive to use different builds to get all the trophies. Do the trophies collected with different characters stack for the same PSN player profile? Why wouldn’t they? Bah, too late for me now.

Not really a NG+ Thing, but I’m finding that playing the game PURE Multiplayer is really fun for a second playthrough opposed to the first mostly singleplayer exploratory playthrough.

I Follow these simple conditions:

  1. In Human Form…summon dudes to help play through the level and Kill the Boss Demon to progress
    A) Success/Boss Defeated. Progress to next Stage: Repeat Step 1
    B) Failure/Death: Go to Step 2

  2. In Soul Form…Get summoned to help another kill the Boss Demon to get Revived
    A) Success/Boss Defeated. Revived: Return to Step 1
    B) Failure/Death: Repeat Step 2

I’ve been doing this for a while now with a new character and it is Amazing. When you play through the whole stage with someone there is a better chance for black phantoms to invade. Sometimes it’s a hilarious ganking and sometimes the guy is clever but usually still dies. All and all its whole new unique experience provided by Demon’s Souls.
