I tend to read with the light case for anywhere from twenty minutes to an hour each night at bedtime. At that level of use, I have to recharge the kindle about every week, instead of every other.

That’s great, thanks. Is that your total usage time with the Kindle per week or is that in addition to other use?

It’s in addition; figure an hour or two using unlighted every day beyond that, give or take.
Length of the normal warranty on the Kindle is what? I see they’re offering me a 2-year, so I’m guessing it’s 1.

Yep, 1. And after that, repairs are pricey compared to the cost of a new K3. (My K1’s screen died the “pressure death” and they wanted $89 to replace it with a refurb K2.)
I’m afraid of these things. i like books.
…and you’re in this thread why?

I dunno. This markbevi character only posts single line replies with minimal tapping of the Shift key. I’d say he was a spammer trying to build a postcount, but I can’t prove it. Time will tell.

A much better warranty option is here:

Cheaper and covers more for the money, plus I hear that the company that Amazon advertises is a pain to work with if you actually try to make a claim.

Do any of you use some kind of screen protector on your Kindle?
Tell him no, everyone. By the time he’s finished accessorizing his K3 will look like Maximilian from The Black Hole.

And he’ll have spent 3x the amount for the Kindle! :)

The extendable whirling blade accessory is pretty nice because you can do food processing tasks while reading, but it’s a much more severe drain on battery life than the case light.
That’s where the flux capacitor pack comes in handy. I can leave my whirling blades on for weeks using a single banana peel.
Turns out he was some high schooler hoping to get an invite into the Qt3 Minecraft server. There’s a whole little discussion of it over in the Games forum. Bizarre.

I was at my kid’s soccer practice last nite-- sitting in my chair reading my Sony reader (sorry no Kindle) and the coach asked me about it and then told me that his wife has a Kindle but never uses it- she just uses the case with a light as a night light in the bathroom!!
THEN the assistant coach said…Yeah I got a Kindle last Christmas- it is still in the box- I am not a computer person and I don’t know how to get books for it.
WTF?

Oooh! Can people comment on the best extendable whirling blade accessory? And then maybe I can add an external battery pack - but then I’ll need a new case to fit it…
LOL! ;)

Kindle to get lending later this year.
Only thing is, the publisher has to allow it.

Actually, I was thinking a swiss army knife accessory might be useful. :)
Finally, the Kindle can have the same useless bullshit lending capabilities that the Nook has. Oh, how I have longed for this day.
