so much for my wii sales coming back to the pack theory though. I still have yet to see one on the shelf.

I don’t own a Wii, but I’m rooting for Nintendo to be successful this time around. Sucked to see Sega leave the console market, and I’m hoping Nintendo can avoid a similar fate.
There’s a difference between forward-looking estimates (where they’re as full of shit as anyone) and historical data (where they’re pretty much just adding up NPD and MediaCreate numbers), though. I haven’t seen any reason to think that their historical numbers are significantly wrong.
The Wii is selling well, but it’s still a looooong way away from PS2 numbers.
I am surprised at the PS3 numbers, even on a 4 reporting week month. I was expecting low, but not quite that low. This is troubling, since I don’t see anything on the horizon in the next 3 months to reverse the trend. Hell, even if Sony cut the price $100 tomorrow, I don’t see people rushing out to pay $500 for Resistance and Motorstorm.
The PSP continues to be a hot choice for playing ripped video files, but not for games or UMD movie sales. It’s an interesting combination of a simultaneous product success and failure.
At the same point in their lifespans? I can imagine that it’s certainly lagging behind the PS2’s initial pace in Japan but I would be surprised to find out the PS2 sold significantly more than 360k it’s first April in the US (can’t find the numbers for that far back however).
