Couldn’t resist any longer, reinstalled. Do I need to add mods that I might not have grabbed since I played last on the cluster, or is there a full list of mods that are currently installed on the Genesis_2 server?

I can see it in the Steam server list (after adding the IP:port above), but then the game tells me, “Please ensure the Server you are attempting to join is running the latest version of all Mod content.” (On my end, I (1) reinstalled, (2) launched game and let it download the mods I was already subscribed to from the last time I connected to the cluster, (3) added the Genesis_2 server to Steam, and then (4) tried to join.

I think for you it was one mod that needed an update and I just now did that and restarted the server, Barstein. Give it about 15 min and it should show up and be available.

Just noticed Gen2 server is down. I’m checking it now.

Update: server update and mod update required. I’m doing both now.

Update 2: Server returning to service at this time.

This game has the most hilarious relationship with gravity. I’m in the space biome of Gen2, where everything floats, except the leftover element crystals near the edge of the space rocks, which go tumbling down the side when mined. See also - crystal wyverns getting stuck in mid-air immediately after you tamed it, because you’re now overloaded, and you have to either dump weight or jump off. I think I’m going to try to spawn one in the space biome and see if I can become too heavy for zero-G.

Hey, for what it’s worth, are those crystals or the blue element piles? I can’t seem to mine the latter so I’m wondering.

I finally got lucky and logged in while the space mode was the area with floating sections with oil rocks on them. I mined as much as possible so I won’t run out this time.

I was referring to the element crystals, which look a bit like the standard crystal node, but colored blue like the dust piles. They give out element shards and element. The dust piles you have to pick up by hand, like the gems. Maybe a mining drill would work as well? Never tried it.

I don’t think I’ve encountered the oil rocks. Haven’t found any mutagen either, other than the tiny bit you can get from the black pearl nodes.

If you aren’t in space (my observation) whenever you see the star field warp overhead and hear the noise each night at midnight, the space zone changes to one of a few options. One of them has oil rocks all over the place, one just has mostly rich metal nodes, etc. This spoiler page has the rundown. So after understanding this a bit, I built an outpost just outside the space zone and I can run back and forth to dump inventory there if it has something I need.

Yeah, I soon noticed they changed every night. They don’t appear to be on any kind of rotation though. Seems totally random what it’ll roll. I haven’t seen the same resource type two nights in a row, so maybe that’s something it checks for.

I also notice when a resource returns after a prior appearance, the stuff I mined the last time is still gone when it comes back, like it’s using standard regrow rates for the resources even though it all changes every night.

GreyWind, I will assume it was you that left a breeding pair of Therizinosuarus’s in my base on Valguero ( you bred them anyways ) . Thanks as those are quite the killing machines. I thought I was making a lot of progress breeding Dino’s until I saw those. Did you use the mutator to create all the mutations?

I am currently trying to create the pool of breeding females, and trying to get all the Tek Engrams, to create the mutator.

Thanks again

Yes, several of us bred some super OP dinos using the S+ mutator. Greywind made some giga’s (10k damage per bite, nom nom nom), rock drakes, spinos, therizins, and a few others. I did velons (oh yeah, think a living mini gun, they can kill a rock elemental in less than 10 seconds), wyverns, mantis, & allos.

I’m starting that same type of breeding on Genesis 2 with Shadowmanes. Those things are going to be killers when done. On par with a rex health and melee, but much smaller, no O2 stat (unlimited underwater), a good swimmer, can cloak, and have a teleport jump attack, The wild ones are pretty much the one dino I fear on Genesis 2.

One big Huzzah!! for me. Gamma Master Controller (Genesis part 1 boss) has been defeated.

I failed so many times trying to beat this boss.

I used my super Shadowmanes for the fight and they did pretty well. Lost about 4 during the fight. Next stop, Beta Master Controller. I doubt I will get to Alpha because you have to complete about 98% of all the Genesis Part 1 missions and some of those alpha missions are near impossible.

Very nice. Keep thinking about jumping in. Genesis just wasn’t a huge draw for me.

Beat the beta Master Controller tonight. Was a bit more difficult, but not terribly so.

Beating beta gave me the tek shoulder cannon and the space whale saddle, so I’ll be going to one of those next. The shoulder cannon seems pretty nice so far.

Regan did you get the space dolphin flyer? I forget the name but wanted to look into it. I’m juggling 3 other games right now and haven’t logged in much.

Grem it is a very unique map. Each map section has easy to harder parts and they are huge so it’s like having 4 maps in one with a unique zone between them.

The Astrodelphis (space dolphin), yes, I tamed one on Genesis 2 awhile ago. I only did it to test the taming mechanics and see how fast it was. I never learned all the dino mechanics because the first 2 times I tried to fly with it, I drained all it’s food in seconds. Not sure what was happening, probably needed element. After that I cryoed it and left it in cold storage ever since.

But with beating the Master Controller of Genesis 1, I can tame and saddle the Astrocetus (space whale).

To many dinos with similar names. Dino names that start with mega make my head hurt at times.

I think the space dolphins are bugged. Every one I’ve tamed immediately tries starving itself to death. I was able to stop that by unequipping and re-equipping the saddle. I’ve heard punching the astrodelphis works also.

The Astrocetus

Taming it wasn’t to difficult. Took about 12 cannon balls, of which I only needed 3, but missed shots don’t help in the taming.

Slow moving, but do have a “hyper jump” ability that shoots you forward about the length of the astrocetus. You can also drop bombs from it if you load it up with ambergris or use one of the three turrets (top, bottom rear, bottom front) to shoot stuff (element required).

The hover skiff is faster, can pick up, carry, and drop large dinos. Want to move that bronto into your friends base, the hover skiff can do that. It will auto repair itself about 60 seconds after taking damage and heals about 11hp per second. The downside to the skiff is it uses element for fuel and can use a lot. The higher you go, or faster, or larger the dino you are carrying will all increase the skiff’s element consumption. Element isn’t a huge concern at this point because Genesis 2, you can gather lots of element when the right asteroids are present (purple beacons are when the element asteroids are there).

Grats! I really need to get back to Ark soon. I did log in and check out the ol base last week, but haven’t had time to really get into it. How is Gen 2 so far? Anyone have some recon? Should I carry forward my guy, or strip down and start fresh?

I brought my existing character over to Gen 2, but I didn’t bring anything with me. I wasn’t about to lose a lvl 140 character with all my tek engrams.

The right side of the map, around the middle is fairly safe. The left side is all the same, allo’s, man eating plants, and bronto’s. I started on the left side but didn’t die to many times.

Ding Dong Gamma Rockwell is dead!

The fight wasn’t to hard, but I did have about 16 super shadowmanes with me. The next goal is to finish up the rest of the beta missions so I can beat him on beta mode.
