I like the new somcopter project. Looking forward to seeing if it is real or an elaborate april fools’ prank.

The April’s fools was the Take on Helicopters Zombie DLC. Didn’t you see the video?

i see someone already posted the patches but

there is new linux server for 1.59

there is new beta patch 1.59.79600 which is MP compatible

there are some irks tho but they will be solved by packing up next beta

BTW, Dwarven is a Bohemia Interactive developer, so you direct your complaints about how buggy/slow is the game to him, not me :P

edit: 2000 posts in the thread!

patch aint on steam yet is it?

been playing the hell out of this today, and it shure plays good nowadays. looks awesome as well. i cant fly choppers for shit :(

I tried the demo of this today.

Is there really no jump/climb command to get over a tiny fence in this game?

I don’t expect to jump like Super Mario but I think a normal picket fence is conquerable by a human soldier, no?

V key is the climb key. In fact it’s basically there to climb the damn tiny fences!

Still plays poorly on my machine in built-up areas :/ Or maybe it’s the SP campaign, I’m not sure. Hmm, maybe it’s my CPU and the large amount of NPCs in play? That would explain why changing video options doesn’t have much impact …

Anyway, great fun out to just tool around the place in helis and tanks. I still have a blast firing up the scenario editor and just plopping down two opposing forces on two ends of a town and telling each to go the other way. If only I could get a script to do that for me it’d be the best Instant Action sort of combined arms skirmish generator ever. :)

Ever try the ambient combat module?

You also might be interested in Planned Assault. It’s a web-based mission designer where you pick what you want (size/type of forces, objectives) and it will generate the mission for you, with a bunch of cool scripting that makes for an authentic-felling battle. Not quite instant but well worth it as I recall. You can pick what role you play in the battle too.

I might give it another go soon actually.

Ah, so “Step Over” I couldn’t see it yesterday.

You are my hero, thanks!

That’s exactly the right implementation of jump - all games should do this unless they’re about superheroes. In Arma it should probably just happen without a keypress, leaving V for Defog SUSAT or something.

Does this work for single player only or can you create missions to play cooperatively with others?

Singleplayer only atm.

Does anyone know how to create a shortcut that loads Combined Operations for the Steam version?

I have a no motion blur mod that I have to enter a command line modifier on. Unfortunately, the only way I can load Combined Operations is by right clicking on Operation Arrowhead in my Steam library and picking Combined Operations. Thus, I can’t put in the command line modifier…

Bohemia included the _runA2CO.cmd command line launcher and I believe that’s what it creates when you ask Steam for a shortcut. What the command line launcher does is sniff out where your installs are. The functional part is

"%_STEAMPATH%\steam.exe" -applaunch 33930 "-mod=%_ARMA2PATH%;EXPANSION;ca"

Rename the paths for your system and put that in a shortcut and it should work. Mods go on the end with additional ;s.

A pair of images of the Ofp remake for Arma 2. Just don’t hope for them to finish it until next year
