Just linking it here, i don’t have time to come back to Arma 2 right now. I just reached the Strip :).

Sounds awesome. Are they ever going to release this for the 360? Arma2 and Oblivion are about the only things I play on my PC anymore.

Heretic begone! ArmA on an xbox, ptah, the thought! This game belongs on a console like mutant goldfish belong on bicycles!

Given the time has passed since the original Arma 2 release, and zero news in that front, i think the possible console version was scrapped ages ago.

Btw, i think there will be another patch for the game in a few weeks, coinciding with the second DLC.

Ughhh that would be horrible. We’d up with another Dragon Rising type game that satisifies very few. Way too many sacrifices would have to made for it to go console.

Arma would… not work on a console. At least not without significant changes.

There was the other day some news about the AU Army using videogames to know the terrain of where going to be. Of course, the videogame platform was VBS2, the militar grade version of Arma 2.

(fake edit: mmm from the graphics looks like VBS1, the equivalent to Arma 1)

Completely unrelated but funny story this brings to mind:

The ozzie army was lookin into buying themselves a couple of them snazzy new gunship helicopters that everybody was building at the end of the cold war (apaches, cobras, tigers, rooivalks, havocs and hokums to name but a few). So to sell the ozzie brass on their particular brand of choppery deathmachine, Boeing made some outback terrain in their whiskey cobra sim, complete with kangaroos and such.

The ozzie pilot was having a great time, yelling things like crikey and whoa! at all the authentic scenery. And then the 'roos surprised him with a volley of manpads, bringing him down in flames and cutting the demosntration short by a fair bit.

The Boeing boffins had cut a corner, and put the kangaroo model on the infantry object. In effect the bunch of kangaroo were a deadly east german infantry squad!

In the end the ozzie army bought the eurocopter tiger. But if you are going flying over the outback, be shure to keep your finger on the flare button, because them 'roos pack shoulder launched heat seekers!

Wasn’t Dragon Rising released on Console?

I mean, that game felt like a console game. I don’t think ARMA 2 could be made for console without making those kinds of concessions.

Yes, PC/Console and they made a lot of bad sacrifices to make it consoluable.

Partly true! ;)

I don’t think Dragon Rising had to be bad, it just didn’t work out all that well.

I wonder if there’s scope for Kinect in section-level infantry sims. You do spend a fair amound of effort swithcing between prone, kneeling and standing, and you give hand signals to the rest of the section… not sure how the movement aspects would work though. Perhaps infantry segway sim!

You know, with a pistol type controller + Kinect, it sure could be an amazing idea. Good thinking.

Patch time

For Arma 2, Arma 2 OA and BAF.

Seriously.

It seems the new DLC will include a MP version of the armory, procedural challenges included

Launch Trailer for PMC DLC

You know how i am not a native english speaker, do you? The nice thing about that it’s that i don’t notice mediocre english VA as much as you guys.
Well, this time it’s not the case.
(but still seems an interesting campaign)

Was that a question or agreement? This is the thread for the game America’s Army you realise?

Irony?

ArmA 2 != America’s Army.

ArmA 2 is partially funded by militaries since the engine is used in military training simulators, but Bohemia Interactive also packages it into this retail game probably because they like money, not because of any nefarious hidden agenda.
