Dave’s opening hand was 3/2 so he’ll have 5 runes next hand. I’ve exposed the log so you can see his play.
Now our situation:
- Scryer
- Shadow Stalker
- Mystic
I’m guessing #2 is Dave’s top choice given his Brainy Thoughts desire to banish his cards. If we don’t take it, I think he will. That said, Scryer is probably the more useful first card for us.
I would be surprised if Dave didnt take Canon Templar! I would vote Scryer over Stalker~
This could get out of hand fast. If Dave draws the Templar with the matron next cycle, he’s pretty much guaranteed cetra, and it’s going to be real hard to defeat a second cycle cetra with a Templar and matron as well. If the random card generator (screw RNG lol) is fair this game, he think he should get his revenge on the hive this time around vomit
That being said, we have to do our best, and like the others have states, I think scryer is a very nice opening card for us. It’ll be interesting to see what two cards replace the scryer and templar.
Thanks again for the restart. This definitely looks like a more interesting game! I’d really like to know how the others, who were part of the last game, would approach such an opening board, so no rush on my end.
I think the Scryer is the best 4 cost card in the game. I would take that.
Definitely Scryer. Banishing is much less important (read: possible) in RU, so it’s less of a priority. That’s my take anyway, because every time I take the damned Shadow Stalker, it always shows up in the first hand after a deck cycle.
I’ve been busy this week, so I haven’t been able to chime in as much (kudos to all the newer folks for their contributions!), but did we just scrap the last game? Just want to know for the table of contents in the OP.

As the texts show, we are pretty sure that we will get the Templar before the HM does anyhow.

I think we should take a Mystic here. Runes are where its at right now, and we need to get on their level to at least have a shot at that delicious Templar.

I agree with the mystic play.
I believe Dave showed us mercy by not taking the templar. Yes, he has a good shot of getting it next round since he went first this game, but for me, it isn’t high enough to take the risk, especially since the stalker isn’t that great a card due to the DU discard pile nerf (my probability knowledge is piss poor, but he has about a 45% chance of drawing the matron this turn, and if he doesn’t draw it, the chances of drawing 5 apprentices out of 10 cards (stalker replaces itself) isn’t the greatest either at around 22%. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong). Of course, watch Dave take a piss on probability and pull it out anyway. Also, if he took the templar during his second turn, he’d have a shot at second round cetra, so at least we don’t have to worry about that anymore.
Dave repeats Delver over Wolf Shaman, with Annie to boot! They’re gonna get 4 runes and we gonna get that 5, I can feel it in the air. Vote for Mystic.
As MegaAdayu said upthread at least twice, Dave would have had a R3/R4 shot at Cetra, with the Templar possibly uniting with the 3-drop Mech hero. These early rounds can make or break the game. Stunning development ;)

Wow, definitely agree with Ironcub - stunning development indeed! Taking the stalker over the Templar is like taking a Toyota Corolla over a Lexus GS with the hopes of getting the GS later. I would definitely take the GS first and run!
