Hey Kl3mnop!
Why you gotta be so rude?
Don’t ya know I’m human too?
Why you gotta be so rude?
Lmao, just pulling your leg. I’m a bit puzzled where that idea came from. Your analysis during your game against the hive mind is what got me into this thread to begin with, and that utter screw job that denied you your 7 runes lmao. I’m a big fan of this thread because lots of ideas get tossed around, and in the end, we should all be better gamers because of it.
I’m going to have to pass on the February tournament. I had an iPad before but I lent it out to a cousin. I’ll try and get it back for March or April since this crapberry is a piss poor paperweight.
I wouldn’t call myself good at ascension, but I love gaming, and you seem to have a broad knowledge of games too, so you’ve probably played Dominion before. Dominion is somewhat similar to Ascension as you’re trying to build actions (village card, anyone?), and banish the coppers (which are essentially apprentices) from your hands. Of course there’s no centre board, but if you understand some of the intricacies of Dominion, you should automatically understand some of the basic strats of Ascension. There’s a game called Ra that I love as well, and the crux of the game is understanding the value of the board, and whether or not you should be calling Ra and starting an auction. You have to understand what you need to maximize points, and whether or not you should grab another tile at random (ie flipping over the centre board). Although it’s a very different game because it’s an auction game, I also feel that if you’re good at Ra, you’ll be able to pick up some of the Ascension concepts faster as well.
It must be pretty obvious that I love gaming, and that although I obviously want to win when I play, I want to learn to be a better thinker as well, and I feel great games force you to be one. Sure, the stakes aren’t as high as they are in real life, but a lot of the principles you learn from gaming can be applied to real life. Like Mithrophon mentioned to you, it’s not about good outcomes; rather it’s about good processes. Good outcomes aren’t always repeatable, but good processes are always repeatable, and if we approach things with the mindset of trying to do them properly rather than believing the ends justify the means, we will be much more successful in most of our endeavours. That’s not to say one should never risk things in life, but rather, to only do so when the downside is minimal relative to the upside.
And like I said many posts ago, I only thought really highly of Mithrophon because you indirectly mentioned he could lead the hive mind to victory, so if you’re great in your analysis and you believe that, then he must be good.
And Ironcub! Why would I disappear? I’m like Dave because your props matter! Mega-Adayu? Awesome sauce!
