TimothyS over Jonathanracusse, via forfeit (you meant for that to be a forfeit, right J?)
Apologies for hustling a bit with these turns! Am off to a conference tomorrow and wanted to get a turn or two in.
How is it worse? We scooped up a card that controls center row and draws more cards, we banished a potentially dangerous card that our opponent had a better shot at killing than us and we scored 2 points from it, we’re poised to grab the Dandelion Witch which doesn’t clutter and will probably pay out a few points before the end of the game. And we’ll even get one of your beloved ‘cheap points’ from a heavy infantry. Our deck is relatively thin and efficient while our opponent’s is starting to bulk up. I think we’re currently on an upswing, though I’m not sure we’re better off than Jakeb yet.
I wouldn’t trade decks with him. I think he will need some luck soon to turn things around.
Right now it looks like the Eternal Askara should banish that layabout Tarik, hopefully opening up a card we can take with the Stone Circle Elder and then draw with Askara of Fate. Tarik is kind of a lump right now, and we need more targets for the Elder.
Of course, I don’t know what the board will look like on our turn.

I agree, our deck is the hotness.
I am massively against ever picking up shitty 1 point cards to see what is under them unless it’s end of game and I’m just stacking my deck with cheap value or the card very specifically fits into my desk or I desperately am hoping for something as a hail mary. I’d rather force my opponent to reveal it to me. The dude who can kill 3 power monsters when a good event is on deck is pretty much the exception.

I would take Bizzy’s hand personally.
Preliminary ideas:
EA should banish Tarik +3 stars
If there’s something at all that SCE could provide, put on top and draw with AF (doubtful)
Unless we get 2HI from the AF there’s nothing good this hand.
We still have too many APPs and might have to take GoS. Our chances of drawing anything useful are low.
At this point, SCE -> Lunar Stag, AF to draw, 2 stars looks better than most.

Sitting with less APPs and more HIs with more big money monsters out there is where I’d rather be. I don’t care that he could have our Askara and Skeptic by now. His deck would be flabby, ours would be lean and red. There’d be 3 good monsters that only we have a real shot at removing. We’d be rid of the albatross that is the Deathsworn. We’d be ahead on red money, he’d be bogged down drawing and banishing and getting almost enough red to do something with.
Yes he’d be ahead on deck. Yes he’d be dangerous and could banish one of our monsters. But he can’t banish his deck and it’d be so scatterbrained that we’d kill Tarik by now to reveal Fire Tyrant. Then next turn Kill Nemesis that he can’t do anything about.
Ah, a boy can dream…

Everyone feel free to check my maths. This napkin is getting kinda blurry.
Plus Gus has shown pretty convincingly that I’m basically skimming the threads and shooting from the hip.
Something off-topic from the Hive Mind game that I thought I’d quickly share! It’s a thread I put up in the official forum for the game~
I was inspired by the Ascension Proxies in this sub-forum to come up with a couple quick ideas for potential rewards for monsters in future expansions.
I’ve noticed that the one aspect that players often want to see expanded is the interaction between opponents. With that in mind, I suggest monster rewards where
- Each opponent must discard TWO cards (take Fire Tyrant to the next level)
-Each opponent’s rune/power count for the next round is reduced by X amount (this would be a simpler way to implement cancellation-like abilities. Basically, what about introducing negative starting levels of rune/power?)
-Each opponent’s ability to generate honor for the next round is reduced by X amount (Sordid Asp allows a player to steal honor from an opponent, but this would be slightly different, as there would be no actual stealing of honor)
There could be a lot of fun had with the “reducing by X amount” as well. Potential reductions could include halving or the inability to generate any rune/power/honor for the next round. I had fun coming up with these potential ideas!

If you mix the Promos with IH, you could get 6 soul gems just like that, wow…
Potential Bug with Orb of Nyx and Rat King
by Mzrc10 » Sun Jul 28, 2013 1:44 am
I had an issue where I had Orb of Nyx in play: “Gain 3 power. When you defeat a monster in the center row, gain a soul gem.” and I defeated Rat King “Gain 4 honor and defeat all giant rats in play.” There were 5 giant rats in play. I feel like I should’ve gotten six soul gems but only got two (One for rat king, one because I may have had void avenger played.) Is this a bug, or are giant rats not considered to be “in the center row?”

The answer is yes. I’ve logged a bug.

First impression is to try to get the Fire Tyrant. That’ll knock him back down to 5 cards after the Askara of Fate.
Use EA on the Minotaur?
Hope the AoF draws red?
Make it draw red with the SCE?
Can’t answer in detail cuz am in the car.

OK,
He played the Synchronizer.
He played the Honey Siren and put an HI on top.
He drew the HI with the GoR.
He played the Honey Siren and put an HI on top.
He drew the HI with the Monk.
Killed the Genie.
Played the Genie.
Bought the Stag.
Bought a third HI.
I told you this guy was a fart smeller…
His pile/hand is something like:
2 Apprentices
1 Militia
1 Spider Witch
1 Arha Medium
1 HI
1 Lunar Stag
There’s a decent chance he’ll get the Unite. The Genie, Arha Medium, & Soul Gem mean we can’t say much about his hand. Also there’s not an obviously good card we could hope to discard with the Fire Tyrant.
